SQL/RPGLE Developer

Introduction

Our client in East Liberty, Ohio, is seeking an experienced SQL/RPGLE Developer to join their IBM i (AS/400) development team. The role focuses on the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of business-critical applications using SQLRPGLE (RPGLE with embedded SQL). You will work extensively with modern RPG techniques while leveraging embedded SQL for efficient data access, business logic implementation, and system integrations.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and modernizing existing systems
• Developing new features
• Troubleshooting complex issues
• Proactively identifying opportunities to improve performance, reliability, and maintainability of the application landscape
• Analyzing, designing, developing, and maintaining iSeries (IBM i) applications utilizing SQLRPGLE, RPGLE, and related languages
• Testing code changes thoroughly and ensuring high quality and system stability
• Integrating new code and fixes into existing production systems

Requirements

Required Skills

• Strong SQLRPGLE Expertise: Proficient in developing and maintaining applications using SQLRPGLE (embedded SQL in RPGLE)
• Advanced SQL Skills: Expertise in writing complex SQL queries, performance tuning, stored procedures, and integrating SQL seamlessly within RPG environments
• RPG Development Proficiency: Strong experience with RPG IV, RPGLE (Free-format), ILE concepts, service programs, modules, and modern RPG techniques
• JSON Handling: Experience processing JSON data within RPGLE/SQLRPGLE applications
• Full Development Lifecycle experience
• Embedded SQL Mastery: Strong command of embedded SQL in RPGLE

Desired Skills

• IBM iSeries / AS/400 platform experience
• Proficiency with CL / CLLE, ILE concepts, and related tools
• Experience in Logistics / Supply Chain environments
• Familiarity with Angular and Python
• Additional IBM i or modern development experience
