Job Description
A career without limits
As the nation's flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.
It's something we've been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world's first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.
This originality has been in our blood since day one. It's the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.
So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in far-flung places, a job at British Airways is yours to make.
We know great things can happen when you're inspired to think big and bring your ambition to work every day, which is why, at British Airways the sky is never the limit.
The role: Digital Experimentation Lead - 12m FTC

Leading a team of up to two, you'll own our experimentation programme across and our app, setting the standard for how tests are delivered and ensuring every change can be linked to its impact on customers and commercial performance. As business owner of our experimentation platform, you'll get the most from our tools, support our migration to new technology and bring testing to our app for the first time. Working across product, technology and agency partners, you'll champion experimentation throughout Digital, directly driving incremental revenue and a better experience for millions of customers.
What you'll do:
- Reporting to: Digital Performance Analytics & Experimentation Manager
- Lead a team of Experimentation Specialists while directly owning experimentation activity within a Digital product area, combining team leadership with hands-on experimentation delivery.
- Work with Product, Commercial and Digital stakeholders to identify, prioritise and deliver experimentation opportunities that align to business objectives and maximise customer, commercial and learning value.
- Personally own experimentation activity within an assigned product area, leading the end-to-end delivery of experiments and personalisation initiatives.
- Collaborate with Product Owners and squads to validate new features and propositions through experimentation, defining hypotheses, success metrics and test designs, and ensuring activity is executed effectively and translated into actionable insights.
- Collaborate with Product, Analytics, Data Science and Digital Tools teams to ensure robust measurement, reporting and insight generation, and promote the adoption of experimentation learnings across the organisation.
- Contribute to the development of experimentation frameworks, standards and best practices, leveraging knowledge from internal and external partners to continuously evolve BA's experimentation capability.
- Establish and promote experimentation success stories, communicating outcomes and learnings to stakeholders to increase awareness, adoption and organisational maturity.
- Collaborate with colleagues across IAG and external partners where appropriate to share best practice, identify emerging opportunities and continuously evolve BA's experimentation capability.
What you'll bring to British Airways:
- Proven experience of running A/B and multivariate tests using tools such as Adobe Target, Optimizely or similar, ideally within a large-scale, high-traffic e-commerce environment
- A track record of managing and growing an experimentation programme at scale, with a broad understanding of the different ways experiments can be used to validate ideas and features
- Strong statistical analysis skills and a critical, analytical mind that can identify trends in data and turn them into clear, confident recommendations
- A good understanding of how to validate assumptions drawn from behavioural data, working alongside user research or through experimentation
- The ability to lead, support and develop a small team, alongside being an enthusiastic team player who works well across virtual and cross-functional teams
- Evidence of building strong communities of practice and engaging a broad range of stakeholders, with excellent relationship management skills
- The ability to explain complex ideas simply to diverse audiences, bringing your point of view to life through data, insight and customer impact
- A positive, decisive approach in the face of uncertainty, with the ability to make clear decisions in a fast-moving and pressurised environment
- A highly organised and structured way of working, with a focus on timely delivery and a drive to continuously improve in everything you do
