Job Description

Role: Network & CNI Test Engineer
Location: NYC NY/onsite
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Network & CNI Test Engineer to design, automate, and execute testing for enterprise networking and cloud-native infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in network testing, routing/switching, Linux, Kubernetes networking/CNI, Python automation, and network troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute functional, integration, interoperability, scalability, performance, and regression tests for network infrastructure.
  • Test and validate routers, switches, network software, and cloud-native networking components.
  • Develop and maintain automated network test frameworks using Python, Ansible, APIs, and Robot Framework.
  • Validate Kubernetes networking and CNI implementations.
  • Test container networking, network policies, service connectivity, and traffic flows.
  • Troubleshoot Kubernetes networking issues using kubectl, packet captures, logs, and network diagnostic tools.
  • Work with Cilium, eBPF, Calico, or other CNI technologies.
  • Perform network protocol testing across Layer 2/Layer 3, TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLAN, STP, and multicast.
  • Analyze network traffic using Wireshark, tcpdump, IXIA, Spirent, or similar tools.
  • Perform software/firmware release, patch, feature, and bug validation.
  • Execute performance and scalability testing including latency, throughput, packet loss, and failover.
  • Develop test plans, test cases, automation scripts, and certification reports.
  • Investigate defects, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate with development and network engineering teams.
  • Validate network security, vulnerabilities, and configuration changes.
  • Support CI/CD integration of automated network testing.
  • Work with Linux-based network and Kubernetes environments.
Required Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in Network Testing / Network Engineering / Network Automation.
  • Strong understanding of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, routing and switching.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Container Networking (CNI).
  • Experience with Cilium, Calico, or similar CNI technologies.
  • Strong Python scripting and network automation experience.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix environments.
  • Strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, VLAN, STP, TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6.
  • Experience with Wireshark and tcpdump.
  • Experience with network automation tools such as Ansible.
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
