Job Description

Position Summary

Client is seeking a hands-on Director of Information Technology to lead and execute the Company's IT strategy across its five operating entities. This is a working leadership role, not a purely strategic or administrative position.

The Director of IT will serve as the single accountable owner of BNC's IT function during a period of significant change including the professionalization of the IT function, ERP modernization across all five entities, and execution of an enterprise compliance program with associated audits. The Director will lead a small internal team (including a Manager of Information Technology responsible for infrastructure and end-user support) and will conduct an early review of current IT operations to determine the right go-forward structure, including whether to build an internal team or to engage a co-managed Managed Service Provider (MSP).

BNC has partnered with CrowdStrike using the Falcon MDR service for its cybersecurity tier; the Director assumes ownership of that relationship and the broader security posture. If, following the Director's evaluation, additional specialized support is needed for the compliance program, a project-based compliance partner may be engaged on an as-needed basis.

This role requires a leader who can bridge business operations and technology execution, manage a multi-entity / multi-location environment, and ensure systems, partners, and compliance activities are aligned, integrated, and scalable to support BNC's growth.

This position will report to BNC's CEO, with a dotted-line relationship to the CFO.

Key Responsibilities

  1. IT Function Ownership & Operating Model

  • Serve as the single accountable owner of the IT function across all five BNC entities
  • Within the first 45 days, conduct a preliminary review of current IT operations that includes staffing, vendor arrangements, infrastructure, security, and service quality, to provide an initial report on recommended changes, and identify where deeper review is needed and to be completed within the next 45 days.
  • Within 90 days provide the final IT operations recommendations
  • Direct and integrate the work of internal staff and any engaged external partners so that the executive team has one point of accountability for IT
  • Establish IT governance, service standards, escalation paths, and performance metrics across internal and partner resources

  1. Team Leadership & IT Operations Oversight

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the internal IT team, including direct oversight of the Manager of Information Technology
  • Within the first 90 days, complete a structured evaluation of the incumbent IT Manager and define the go-forward team structure
  • Oversee day-to-day IT operations including infrastructure, network management, help desk / desktop support, and end-user experience across multiple locations
  • Ensure reliable, secure, and efficient IT operations that scale with the business

  1. Vendor & Partner Management

  • Own ongoing management of the CrowdStrike Falcon MDR relationship and any other existing technology partners
  • If the Director's evaluation supports it, lead the selection partners and define service-level expectations and the demarcation between internal staff and partner responsibilities
  • Manage partner performance, contract terms, and continuous improvement; ensure external partners report through the Director rather than directly to the C-suite
  • Evaluate and manage other third-party technology vendors, including contract negotiation and performance oversight

  1. Cybersecurity

  • Own the overall cybersecurity posture, anchored by the existing CrowdStrike Falcon MDR engagement
  • Lead cybersecurity strategy, risk management, incident response readiness, and policy development
  • Coordinate security activities across entities and locations, ensuring consistency with regulatory and customer requirements

  1. Compliance Program Leadership

Own execution of BNC's enterprise compliance program, including readiness for and management of associated audits

Assess whether a project-based compliance partner is needed to supplement internal capability; if engaged, scope the work, direct the partner, and disengage when objectives are met

Coordinate compliance activities across entities and ensure IT systems, controls, and documentation meet applicable regulatory, security, and customer requirements (including CMMC and related frameworks where applicable)

  1. ERP Modernization & Enterprise Systems

  • Provide internal technical oversight of the ERP modernization initiative across all five entities, working alongside the CFO (who owns the ERP business outcome) and the selected implementation partner through go-live and into long-term operation
  • Evaluate current systems (ERP, engineering tools, finance, systems) and identify integration gaps across entities
  • Oversee technical aspects of system integration; ensure seamless data flow across engineering, manufacturing, finance, and operations
  • Act as the internal expert on how systems connect and operate together; coordinate with the implementation partners and business leaders

  1. Hands-On Technical Leadership

  • Serve as a working leader personally involved in architecture decisions, integrations, and problem-solving
  • Participate directly in system configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization where appropriate
  • Lead vendor technical discussions and implementation oversight

  1. Manufacturing & Multi-Entity IT Enablement

  • Partner with BNC leadership to support aircraft modification and engineering workflows, including production planning, engineering change management, and compliance documentation
  • Tailor IT infrastructure and service delivery to the differing needs of BNC's entities and locations
  • Balance standardization with the operational realities of a multi-entity environment

  1. Strategic Execution

  • Translate business needs into practical, executable IT solutions
  • Prioritize initiatives based on ROI and operational impact
  • Focus on pragmatic, right-sized solutions for a mid-sized, multi-entity organization
  • Identify opportunities to leverage automation and AI to reduce manual processes and improve operational efficiency

  1. AI & Automation Enablement (Practical Application Focus)

  • Identify and implement practical AI and automation solutions to improve efficiency across engineering, manufacturing, and administrative workflows
  • Evaluate opportunities to leverage AI within engineering documentation, ERP/data reporting, and quality/compliance processes
  • Partner with business leaders to prioritize AI use cases with clear ROI
  • Establish guidelines for responsible AI usage, including data security and compliance
  • Ensure AI tools are integrated into existing systems and workflows

Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, with depth across the full IT stack (infrastructure, networking, end-user support, cybersecurity, and enterprise applications)
  • Demonstrated experience managing IT for multi-entity or multi-location organizations
  • Direct supervisory experience leading and evaluating internal IT staff
  • Experience selecting and managing third-party technology partners
  • Strong project and vendor management experience, including oversight of large implementations led by external providers
  • Experience supporting or providing technical oversight of ERP environments (implementation, optimization, or long-term ownership)
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity practices and compliance frameworks, with experience preparing for or supporting audits
  • Strong communicator able to translate IT for executive leadership and business stakeholders

Preferred

  • Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or other regulated industries
  • Familiarity with FAA compliance environments
  • Experience with CMMC or comparable cybersecurity / compliance frameworks and associated audits
  • Direct experience operating or overseeing managed detection-and-response services such as CrowdStrike Falcon or equivalent
  • Experience in mid-sized or resource-constrained organizations where the leader is both strategic and hands-on
  • Experience evaluating or implementing AI/automation tools in a business or manufacturing environment

Key Competencies

  • Single-owner mindset comfortable being the one accountable IT leader for the business
  • Hands-on problem solver who can move between executive-level governance and working-level execution
  • Strong systems thinker across people, process, partners, and technology
  • Ability to balance strategy with execution
  • Practical and cost-conscious decision-maker
  • Effective manager of internal staff and external partners alike
  • Strong communicator across technical, business, and executive audiences

Reporting & Operating Relationships

  • Dotted line to: Chief Financial Officer
  • Direct reports: Manager of Information Technology (and future internal IT staff)
  • Manages relationships with: CrowdStrike (Falcon MDR), ERP implementation partner, and other technology vendors
