About Mariana Minerals
Mariana Minerals is a software-first, vertically integrated minerals company on a mission to supply the critical minerals powering modern energy, AI, and defense technologies. We’re reimagining the minerals supply chain by combining deep industry expertise with advanced software, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
The Maintenance Technician (Electrical) supports safe, reliable operation of the electrical, control, and instrumentation systems at Lithium One in Joaquin, TX. In this role, you will install, test, and maintain motors, switchgear, breakers, and motor control centers, then troubleshoot PLCs, relay systems, and instrumentation when something goes wrong. You will play a critical role in keeping production steady and downtime low, and you will have a real hand in building our maintenance program from the ground up, including finding ways to simplify or automate repetitive maintenance tasks. As a startup, the first 6-8 months will include work beyond your electrical specialty, such as mechanical troubleshooting, so the ideal fit is someone who loves variety and wants to build something.
Responsibilities
Install, maintain, repair, and test electrical, control, communication, and measurement equipment, including medium and low voltage motors, switchgear, breakers, and motor control centers
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with PLCs, relay systems, and instrumentation across the Lithium One plant, supporting both planned maintenance and unplanned breakdowns, finding the root cause and making timely repairs
Keep production steady by minimizing downtime and completing work to manufacturer specifications, electrical codes, and quality standards
Perform and document accurate preventive maintenance, inspections, and calibration on electrical and instrumentation equipment, and recommend equipment for inclusion in preventive maintenance programs
Read one-line diagrams, schematics, and blueprints, calculate circuit load requirements, and log work, parts used, and equipment condition in our in-house CMMS
Work with operations, engineering, and the mechanical and controls techs, support pump, motor, and valve repair, and communicate potential hazards to engineers, mechanics, and operators
Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures (including lockout/tagout, confined space, and traffic rules), actively participate in safety meetings, and immediately report hazards, near misses, or equipment damage while ensuring operations meet environmental and regulatory standards
Qualifications & Experience
Associate's degree in electrical, electronics, or instrumentation preferred (or equivalent experience)
Proven industrial maintenance or electrical experience, 3+ years
Hands-on experience with motors, PLCs, switchgear, breakers, motor control centers, relay systems, and instrumentation
Experience in an oil & gas, water treatment, chemical processing, or similar industrial setting (oil & gas highly preferred; hydrometallurgy, mining, or battery materials experience is a plus)
Ability to explain how you approach planned vs. unplanned maintenance, including how you troubleshoot when equipment fails unexpectedly
Working knowledge of electrical power and distribution systems and local, state, and national electrical codes
Ability to read one-line diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to support pump, motor, valve, and piping work
Strong communication across shifts and good computer skills; CMMS experience preferred
Valid driver's license
Schedule
12-hour shifts (6am-6pm): Sunday-Tuesday plus every other Wednesday, or Thursday-Saturday plus every other Wednesday. A night rotation will be added in the near future.
Working Environment & Physical Requirements
Work in the processing plant and shop, in all weather conditions including extreme temperatures, with exposure to chemicals and other hazardous materials
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and to stand, walk, and work in confined or elevated spaces for extended periods
Ability to climb ladders and structures, with the manual dexterity to use hand and power tools
Must wear and use all required PPE
