Job Description

Job Title: Lead Data Analyst

Location : Hartford, CT 06155 (Hybrid)

We are seeking a Lead Data Analyst with specialized expertise in Personal Lines (Automotive & Home insurance) to spearhead a critical legacy modernization initiative. In this role, you will lead the data strategy, analysis, and validation for migrating our core insurance systems from a legacy Mainframe environment to Duck Creek. You will act as the key bridge between business stakeholders, data migration engineers, and system integrators to ensure flawless data continuity, regulatory compliance, and minimal business disruption.

Required Technical Skills & Qualifications:

·         Education: Bachelor’s degree in data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

·         Experience: 8+ years as a Data Analyst, with at least 3 years leading data tracks for large-scale core insurance platform migrations.

·         Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of Personal Lines (Automotive and Home) insurance lifecycles, policy structures, and standard coverages.

·         Legacy Systems: Hands-on experience working with Mainframe systems (interpreting copybooks, querying DB2, PostgreSQL or understanding flat files).

·         Target System: Prior experience working with or migrating into Duck Creek Policy, Claims, or Billing modules is highly preferred.

·         Data Tools: Advanced proficiency in SQL (writing complex joins, unions, and validation scripts)

·         Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills

·         Certification in Duck Creek (Policy or Claims training).

·         Experience utilizing Azure or AWS cloud environments as a staging area during migration.

·         Understanding of state-specific regulatory reporting requirements for Auto and Home insurance lines.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Migration Analysis & Strategy

·         Perform source-to-target mapping (STTM) from legacy Mainframe data structures (COBOL/DB2) to Duck Creek standard data models.

·         Lead data profiling activities on historical policy, claims, and billing data to identify data gaps, redundancies, and cleansing requirements.

·         Define business transformation rules ensuring legacy Personal Lines products (Auto and Home) map accurately into Duck Creek's product configurations.

·         Domain Execution & Validation

·         Validate complex insurance metrics across the migration lifecycle, including Written/Earned Premium, Loss History, Policy Coverages, and Deductibles.

·         Establish automated reconciliation frameworks to verify that millions of migrated records match financial and operational balances.

·         Collaborate with Underwriting and Product Owners to ensure automated rating engine inputs function identical to or better than legacy rules.

·         Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management

·         Direct a team of data analysts, assigning migration streams (e.g., Auto Policy, Home Claims, Billing) and tracking delivery milestones.

·         Translate technical migration risks into business impact statements for leadership, providing weekly readiness dashboards.
