Quick Overview
Job Description
Hi
Role: Procurement Professional
Location: NYC (Hybrid) - must be local
Duration: Long term
Role Overview The Procurement team is responsible for strategic sourcing, supplier management, data & analytics, outsourcing, commercial review, contract management, and the financing and acquisition of a broad range of products and services.
Reporting to the Procurement Lead for Professional Services, this role drives the procurement process from start to finish—including intake, negotiation, sourcing, vendor management, category management, and purchase order requisition. The successful candidate will work across multiple categories, including Marketing, Learning & Development, Events, Facilities, Consulting, Benefits, and Contingent Labor.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Execution: Manage the full procurement lifecycle using Zip as the backbone for intake and approval workflows.
- Commercial Negotiation: Develop project scopes with key partners, lead and negotiate contracts/SOWs and T&Cs, and make data-driven decisions.
- Stakeholder Management: Serve as a key point of contact for firm-wide collaboration across various levels of seniority within Finance and Legal.
- Project Management: Operate independently to manage stakeholders and drive day-to-day projects against tight timelines and shifting priorities.
- Strategic Alignment: Execute near-term goals and long-term strategies, ensuring services are sourced for quality and purchased cost-effectively in partnership with high-performing suppliers.
Ideal Candidate Profile & Sourcing Tips To ensure a successful search, please target candidates who sit in the middle of strategic and operational procurement. The strongest profile is someone hands-on enough to execute day-to-day administrative tasks, but polished and strategic enough to act as a trusted business partner to senior leaders.
What to Look For:
- Category Experience: Professional Services procurement background with end-to-end exposure (from high-level sourcing to tactical PO/requisition execution).
- Technical & Analytical Skills: Pricing/financial analysis comfort, strong spreadsheet capabilities (Google Sheets/Excel), and experience with ZIP (or a demonstrated ability to quickly learn comparable procurement platforms).
- Soft Skills: Strong internal customer-service orientation, consultative mindset, adaptability, and the ability to credibly manage executive relationships.
- Working Style: Entrepreneurial, goal-oriented, and comfortable operating across multiple categories rather than remaining highly siloed.
Screening Nuances (What to Avoid):
- Overly Strategic Candidates: Avoid candidates who only want to perform high-level strategic sourcing and expect a dedicated team to handle requisitions/POs. Tactical, operational procurement remains a core daily responsibility.
- Purely Transactional Candidates: Avoid candidates who solely process POs. This role requires commercial analysis, contract negotiation, and strategic initiative execution.
- Platform Rigidity: Do not over-filter exclusively for ZIP experience. Comparable platform experience is perfectly acceptable if the candidate demonstrates an ability to learn new systems quickly.
Key Selling Points for Candidates:
- End-to-End Ownership: Complete ownership of the procurement lifecycle rather than being restricted to a narrow functional piece.
- Broad Exposure: Opportunity to work across a dynamic range of Professional Services categories with potential future exposure to the highly dynamic contingent-labor category.
- Visibility & Impact: High level of stakeholder interaction, including exposure to senior leadership in a flat, agile environment where employees directly influence and improve processes.
- Growth Potential: A long-term opportunity that offers the potential for eventual conversion into a permanent, full-time role based on performance and cultural fit.
