Security Clearance: Active DoD Top Secret / SCI with CI Polygraph s Preffered

Certification Requirement: Active Juniper Certification (JNCIP / JNCIE preferred, JNCIA/JNCIS considered based on experience)

Role Overview

The Resident Engineer III will act as a primary technical SME providing advanced network engineering, operational support, and network automation across large-scale Service Provider-grade routing and switching infrastructures. This position bridges high-level architecture, hands-on production troubleshooting, and modern DevOps-driven network automation to maintain mission-critical uptime and platform reliability.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide high-level operational support, advanced troubleshooting, and lifecycle engineering for complex Service Provider routing and switching architectures.

• Design, implement, and maintain network automation workflows and CI/CD pipelines to streamline configuration deployment, telemetry, and routine operational tasks.

• Serve as a dedicated technical advisor and escalation point for complex network outages, routing anomalies, and performance degradation.

• Collaborate closely with engineering, security, and operations teams to translate architectural requirements into secure, repeatable network configurations.

• Execute software upgrades, hardware refreshes, and maintenance windows following strict operational change management procedures.

• Support occasional travel to facilities in Houston, TX for critical on-site implementations, hardware installations, or classified project reviews as needed.

Key Skills & Qualifications

• Service Provider Routing & Switching: Deep hands-on expertise with enterprise and carrier-grade routing protocols (BGP, MP-BGP, OSPF, ISIS), MPLS, Segment Routing, EVPN-VXLAN, and traffic engineering.

• Network Automation & DevOps: Demonstrated experience using Python, Ansible, REST APIs, NETCONF/YANG, Git, and automated testing frameworks to manage network state at scale.

• Operational Excellence: Extensive experience in Tier 3/escalation operational support within high-security or mission-critical enterprise environments.

• Certifications: Active Juniper certification (JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP, or JNCIE) required.

• Security Clearance: Must possess an active, verifiable DoD TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph.
