Outstanding Opportunity for a Sociology Teacher in Surrey

We are delighted to partner with a well-regarded secondary school in Surrey, known for its commitment to academic excellence and fostering a supportive learning environment. They are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Sociology Teacher to join their faculty in a full-time, permanent capacity.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high-quality Sociology curriculum to students across Key Stages 4 and 5. The role entails:

  • Designing and delivering engaging and thought-provoking Sociology lessons that align with the national curriculum and school's educational philosophy.
  • Creating a dynamic and inclusive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, debate, and exploration of complex societal issues.
  • Assessing and monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback, and implementing personalized learning strategies.
  • Collaborating with colleagues within the Social Sciences department and across the wider school community to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Engaging in continuous professional development to stay abreast of current sociological research and pedagogical approaches.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Sociology or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching Sociology at the secondary level, preferably across Key Stages 4 and 5.
  • A passion for Sociology and the ability to inspire students to develop a critical understanding of the social world.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively and independently.
