Senior integration APIGEE consultant with Kafka/ APIGEE architecture

Client is seeking an experienced API Gateway / Apigee Architect to lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise API solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Google Apigee, API management, microservices architecture, cloud platforms, and enterprise integration. This role requires strong technical leadership and experience designing secure, scalable, and high-performance API ecosystems in the banking domain.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, API development, and solution architecture.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Google Apigee (Edge or Apigee X).
• Strong experience designing and implementing enterprise API Gateway solutions.
• Expert knowledge of RESTful APIs, API lifecycle management, and API governance.
• Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture.
• Experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, mTLS, SAML, and API security.
• Experience implementing API rate limiting, throttling, caching, analytics, and traffic management.
• Hands-on experience with OpenAPI (Swagger) specifications and API documentation.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins, Maven, and DevOps practices.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized applications.
• Cloud experience with Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure.
• Experience integrating APIs with enterprise applications, messaging platforms, and third-party services.
• Strong SQL knowledge and experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design enterprise API management solutions using Apigee.
• Develop API standards, governance frameworks, and security best practices.
• Design secure, scalable, and reusable REST APIs for enterprise banking applications.
• Configure and manage Apigee proxies, policies, API products, developer portals, and analytics.
• Implement authentication, authorization, traffic management, caching, and API monitoring.
• Collaborate with development teams to modernize legacy services into microservices and API-driven architectures.
• Lead API integration initiatives across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Troubleshoot API performance, security, and production issues.
• Conduct architecture reviews and mentor development teams on API best practices.
• Work closely with business stakeholders, architects, DevOps, and security teams to deliver enterprise integration solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the Banking or Financial Services domain.
• Experience with Kafka, event-driven architecture, and asynchronous messaging.
• Knowledge of MuleSoft, Kong, AWS API Gateway, or other API management platforms.
• Google Apigee certification is a plus.
• Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
