About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to join our BMD NSW team. Initially based from our Wentworth Point office, you will play a critical role during project mobilisation before transitioning into a site-based leadership position on a major transport infrastructure project in Western Sydney.
Reporting into the Project Leadership Team, you will be responsible for establishing, maintaining and continuously improving the project's Quality Management System while ensuring compliance with client, contractual, regulatory and BMD requirements. This role will suit a hands-on quality leader who has successfully delivered quality outcomes on large-scale road, rail or transport infrastructure projects and understands the expectations of Transport for NSW.
Key responsibilities- Lead, mentor and empower project quality personnel to deliver exceptional project outcomes
- Develop, implement and maintain Project Quality Management Plans, Inspection and Test Plans and project assurance processes
- Establish and manage project audit schedules, surveillance activities and quality reporting requirements
- Identify, investigate and resolve non-conformances, ensuring effective corrective and preventative actions are implemented
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and proactively manage quality-related project risks
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, TfNSW specifications, regulatory requirements and ISO standards
- Manage client, supplier, subcontractor and stakeholder quality interfaces throughout project delivery
- Provide quality leadership and technical guidance across construction delivery teams
- Monitor and report quality performance metrics to project and senior management teams
- Support project teams in achieving best-practice quality outcomes and fostering a culture of quality excellence
You'll bring a collaborative mindset, technical expertise, and a passion for quality. You'll have a strong background in quality management within the construction industry, with the ability to lead teams and manage multiple objectives in a dynamic environment.
What you'll bring- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Quality Manager on major infrastructure or construction projects
- Demonstrated experience implementing and managing project quality management systems from mobilisation through delivery
- Lead Auditor qualification in ISO 9001, with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 qualifications highly regarded
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001 requirements and quality compliance frameworks within New South Wales infrastructure delivery environments
- Experience working with Transport for NSW specifications, quality requirements and assurance processes
- Proven experience managing internal, external and client audits
- Outstanding communication, stakeholder engagement and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to influence project teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong problem-solving capability with a focus on risk management and operational excellence
