Job Description
Job Title: Security Architect
Location: Seattle, WA - onsite
Role Overview
The Security Architect is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering cybersecurity and information security projects across the organization. This role ensures that security initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business and compliance requirements. The role requires strong project management expertise combined with a solid understanding of security frameworks, risk management, and enterprise IT environments.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Lead end to end delivery of security projects (e.g., IAM, cloud security, data protection, network security, risk remediation).
- Define project scope, goals, timelines, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, resources, and risks.
- Track and report progress using project management methodologies (Agile/Waterfall/Hybrid).
Stakeholder Management
- Engage with senior leadership, business units, IT teams, and security stakeholders.
- Act as the primary point of contact for project status, risks, and escalations.
- Facilitate governance meetings, steering committees, and status reviews.
Risk & Compliance
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, especially those related to cybersecurity.
- Ensure alignment with security standards and frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, CIS, etc.).
- Support audit and regulatory compliance initiatives.
Security Program Support
- Drive execution of enterprise security roadmap initiatives.
- Coordinate cross functional teams including engineering, operations, and vendors.
- Support incident response improvements, vulnerability management programs, and policy implementations.
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain project documentation, dashboards, and metrics.
- Provide regular updates to leadership on project health, risks, and outcomes.
Preferred Certifications
- PMP / PRINCE2 / Agile Certifications (Scrum, SAFe, etc.)
- CISSP, CISM, or equivalent security certifications (nice to have)
- ITIL Foundation or similar
