Job Description

Nutanix\VMware Administrator

Introduction:

This position is for a Nutanix\VMware Administrator who will be responsible for handling a variety of tasks related to Nutanix and VMware systems. The ideal candidate should have strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to customer service. They will be working with various operating systems, storage, networking, and security components to ensure the smooth operation of IT systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Nutanix and VMware systems
  • Perform host migration tasks, including moving VMs off hosts and putting hosts back on
  • Administer Windows Server and Linux operating systems
  • Handle Active Directory management, backup, and recovery
  • Deploy Nutanix clusters and manage hypervisor migrations
  • Troubleshoot networking issues such as DHCP, DNS, and firewall configurations
  • Implement security principles, ACLs, and encryption
  • Automate routine tasks using scripting languages like PowerShell, bash, ksh, or perl
  • Monitor system health, performance, and provide optimization recommendations
  • Plan and execute disaster recovery procedures
  • Install and manage patches and firmware updates
  • Ensure compliance with NERC CIP standards
  • Produce documentation on system solutions and design
  • Provide technical support and on-call assistance for system-related issues

Requirements:

Required Skills:

  • Experience with Nutanix and VMware systems
  • Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, and Active Directory management
  • Knowledge of networking concepts and troubleshooting
  • Scripting experience with PowerShell, bash, ksh, or perl
  • Ability to perform backup, restore, and disaster recovery tasks
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT support
  • Knowledge of security principles, encryption, and regulatory compliance

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with RAID configurations and storage systems
  • Familiarity with hypervisor migrations and cluster deployments
  • Understanding of firewall configurations and access control lists
  • Ability to optimize system performance and provide statistics
  • Knowledge of patch management, firmware updates, and baselining
  • Experience with backup and restore procedures
  • Understanding of data center best practices and NERC CIP compliance
