About the Role

Are you passionate about Maths and looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference?

At Abbey Gardens School, we're seeking a Maths Instructor to inspire and support students who benefit from a more personalised approach to education. Working with small classes and a dedicated specialist team, you'll help students develop essential mathematical skills, gain qualifications, and build the confidence to succeed both in and beyond the classroom.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with strong Maths knowledge who enjoys helping others learn. Whether your experience comes from education, tutoring, training, coaching, industry or another setting, we'll support you to bring your expertise into a rewarding specialist education environment.

With less emphasis on large classes and paperwork, you'll have the time and flexibility to focus on what matters most, helping students achieve progress they never thought possible.

What you will be doing

  • Deliver engaging and accessible Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Inspire students to develop confidence and enjoyment in Maths.
  • Support learners working towards Entry Level, Functional Skills and GCSE qualifications.
  • Adapt learning to meet individual needs, abilities and EHCP outcomes.
  • Monitor progress, celebrate achievements and encourage personal growth.
  • Build positive relationships that help students re-engage with education.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for students.

What you will bring

You don't need QTS for this role. We're looking for someone who can inspire, engage and support young people to achieve their potential.

  • Strong Maths knowledge and a passion for your subject.
  • Experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, coaching or training others.
  • The ability to explain concepts in different and engaging ways.
  • Patience, resilience and a positive approach to challenges.
  • The confidence to motivate and encourage young people.
  • An interest in SEND, specialist education or alternative provision.
  • A genuine commitment to helping students succeed academically and personally.

About Us

Abbey Gardens is a brand-new specialist school, part of Acorn Education, supporting young people aged 11–16 with SEMH needs. Opened in June 2026, we provide a nurturing, inclusive environment where every student is supported to thrive.

Our personalised curriculum builds on the National Curriculum while being adapted to each student’s individual needs, strengths and aspirations. We combine academic learning with personal development, helping students build confidence, resilience, independence and essential life skills.

As the school grows, our curriculum will remain relevant, engaging and purposeful, with Key Stage 3 and 4 pathways offering recognised accreditation wherever possible. Our aim is simple: to help every young person overcome barriers, experience success and build a positive future.

At Outcomes First Schools, we provide specialist education for learners who need a deeper level of understanding, expertise and support than mainstream education can typically offer. We support students with a wide range of complex, co-occurring and neurodivergent needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and communication needs, dyslexia and experiences of trauma or adversity.

We are proud to be a part of OFG Education who in 2025 were officially certified as a ‘Great Place to Work’ for the sixth year running.
