Job Description

RAN Engineer

Location: West Midlands

Contract: Initial 4 - 6 months
Rate: £400£500per day, depending on experience

Matthew James Group are supporting a client with a major private 5G deployment within a large manufacturing environment and are looking for an experienced RAN Deployment & Integration Engineer with a strong Ericsson background.

This is a hands-on deployment and commissioning role supporting the installation, integration, testing and stabilisation of an Ericsson Private 5G indoor RAN / Radio Dot System.


RAN Engineer

You will support deployment and commissioning activities across the private 5G network, including:

  • Installation and verification of Ericsson BBUs and IRUs
  • Inspection and validation of existing Ericsson Radio Dots
  • Verification of grounding, power, cabling and GNSS synchronisation
  • Day-0 / Day-1 commissioning activities
  • Network Controller to RAN integration
  • IRU and Radio Dot registration
  • Radio configuration and operational-status validation
  • SIM onboarding and provisioning support
  • Throughput and latency testing
  • Mobility and handover testing
  • Redundancy and failover testing
  • ATP / acceptance testing and defect closure
  • Troubleshooting BBU, IRU, Radio Dot and radio integration issues


RAN Engineer

You should have:

  • 5+ years' Ericsson RAN experience
  • Strong Ericsson BBU commissioning experience
  • Experience deploying or integrating IRUs and/or Ericsson Radio Dots
  • Good knowledge of LTE and 5G RAN
  • Experience supporting ATP / acceptance testing
  • Strong fault-finding and integration experience


In return the RAN Engineer will get the chance to work for an amazing company offering an initial 4-6 month contract with the possibility of further extension.
