Java Engineer (Spring Boot / Cassandra)

job summary:

We are seeking a skilled Java Engineer with 6 to 9 years of software development experience to join our application engineering team in Phoenix, AZ. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain high-performance microservices and RESTful APIs using Java, Spring Boot, Vert.x, and Cassandra DB. You will work on a hybrid schedule (minimum 3 days onsite per week) to build scalable backend solutions utilizing modern engineering standards and AI-enabled development tools.

responsibilities:

• Architect, build, and optimize scalable RESTful APIs and backend microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and Vert.x.
• Develop application layers and queries integrating directly with Cassandra NoSQL databases.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following best practices for software engineering and peer code reviews.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot to streamline coding and refactoring workflows.
• Collaborate in a hybrid team environment on-site in Phoenix, AZ.

qualifications:

6+ years of professional software engineering experience in Java.

Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot and Vert.x frameworks.

Solid experience with Cassandra Database, including application integration and query design.

Demonstrated expertise in building and maintaining scalable RESTful web services.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Familiarity with AI-driven development tools such as GitHub Copilot.

Experience with reactive programming models and NoSQL database architecture.
