Senior Snowflake Administrator / Senior Cloud Data Platform Administrator (AWS)
Onsite – Coppell, TX
Role Summary
The Senior Snowflake Administrator is responsible for the end‑to‑end reliability, security, scalability, and cost governance of the Snowflake data platform hosted on AWS. This role serves as the technical authority and owner for Snowflake administration, driving platform standards, guiding engineering teams, and ensuring enterprise‑level governance, availability, and operational excellence.
This position operates with a high degree of autonomy and is expected to influence architecture, policy, and roadmap decisions for the data platform.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Ownership & Administration
- Own and administer enterprise Snowflake environments across Dev, Test, and Production
- Define and enforce platform standards, naming conventions, access models, and operating procedures
- Serve as the escalation point for complex Snowflake platform issues
- Oversee environment lifecycle management, upgrades, and feature adoption
Security, Governance & Compliance (Senior Accountability)
- Design and enforce enterprise‑grade RBAC models, SSO/MFA integration, and network policies
- Implement and govern:
- Data masking and row/column access policies
- Object tagging, classification, and data retention standards
- Audit logging and access reviews
- Partner with Security, Risk, and Compliance teams to support SOX, SOC, HIPAA, or internal governance controls
- Own audit readiness and remediation for Snowflake‑related findings
AWS Cloud Integration & Architecture
- Act as Snowflake subject‑matter expert for AWS integrations:
- S3 external/internal stages
- Snowpipe and event‑based ingestion
- PrivateLink, VPC connectivity, and IAM integrations
- Collaborate with Cloud Platform teams on secure, scalable Snowflake‑AWS architecture
- Drive automation of Snowflake administration using SQL and scripting
- Integrate Snowflake administration into CI/CD and DataOps pipelines
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years in data platform or database administration roles
- 4+ years of hands‑on Snowflake administration in enterprise environments
- Strong expertise in SQL, data warehousing concepts, and cloud data platforms
- Deep experience with AWS (S3, IAM, networking, security)
- Proven experience owning production platforms with reliability, security, and cost accountability
