Role: Senior Software Engineer Systems & Integration

Location: Monterey Park, California, United States (Remote)

Duration: Long Term

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in systems software, application integration, performance engineering, troubleshooting, and enterprise technologies. The ideal candidate will support technical execution across requirements, design, integration, testing, cutover, and stabilization while working with cross-functional teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead technical execution for requirements, design, integration, testing, cutover, and stabilization activities.
  • Create scripts, alerts, and dashboards to automate operational tasks, improve system visibility, and enable proactive issue detection.
  • Design and implement complex software components and services, including thread models, resource lifecycles, and failure-handling mechanisms.
  • Define subsystem interfaces and integration strategies; develop sequence diagrams and state models while enforcing versioning standards.
  • Review and approve technical designs and code for correctness, reliability, and resilience.
  • Establish quality gates and acceptance criteria for software deliverables.
  • Guide validation strategies, including stress, endurance, and fault-injection testing, and define pass/fail criteria.
  • Assess technical risks, propose mitigation strategies, and maintain a subsystem risk register.
  • Lead small feature areas or technical initiatives, coordinate tasks, track progress, and report outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

<>Education
  • Required: 4-year degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Preferred: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
<>Experience
  • Required: 5+ years of related experience.
  • Preferred:
    • 5+ years troubleshooting complex application, interface, data quality, and performance issues in software environments.
    • 5+ years working with cross-functional project teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver software changes.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to analyze performance, reliability, and resource-utilization issues within system code.
  • Ability to influence technical implementation decisions within project teams.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating with hardware, platform, and application teams.
  • Knowledge of hardware-software interactions and platform constraints.
  • Knowledge of operating systems, runtime environments, and embedded systems architectures.
  • Strong skills in designing and implementing moderately complex systems software components.
  • Ability to estimate development effort, complexity, and technical risk for system features.
  • Experience collaborating across technical teams to:
    • Analyze software issues
    • Evaluate implementation approaches
    • Review vendor-provided code and test results
    • Support technical design and solution decisions
    • Ensure alignment with business and technical requirements
  • Advanced SQL expertise for developing, troubleshooting, and optimizing queries.
  • Experience using data analytics and reporting tools to evaluate system performance, monitor data quality, identify operational trends, and investigate exception patterns.
  • Knowledge of:
    • AWS
    • DevOps
    • GitHub
    • REST APIs
    • SOAP APIs
    • Streaming technologies
    • Datadog
    • Splunk
  • Preferred experience with utility AMI operations, including:
    • Head-End Systems
    • Meter Data Management (MDM/MDMS)
