Senior Python Engineer

Senior Python Engineer – AI & Microservices £450 PD (Outside IR35) | 3-to-6-month Contract | 2 days onsite in London (Hybrid) | ASAP Start Our trusted technology partner is developing innovative products and is looking for an experienced Senior Python Engineer / Back End Developer to join a fast-moving team. You will develop Python microservices, scalable services, voice chat, and data pipelines, using AI technologies including ASR, TTS, and LLMs. The ideal candidate will have strong Python skills, a pragmatic delivery-focused approach, and the ability to take ownership in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain scalable Python services, microservices, voice chat, and data pipelines.<br />Work with the Tech Lead and wider team on architecture, technical decisions, and solution design.<br />Collaborate with product, data science, QA, design, and subject matter experts to deliver new features.<br />Ensure applications meet high standards for performance, scalability, reliability, and quality.<br />Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, requirements, and user stories.<br />Take ownership of technical issues and support an end-to-end DevOps approach.<br />Mentor less experienced developers and share technical knowledge.<br />Stay current with developments in AI, cloud engineering, and language assessment.<br />Key Skills &amp; Experience: Strong commercial Python development experience, including object-oriented and functional programming.<br />Strong experience with FastAPI, Pydantic, SQLAlchemy, Alembic, Pytest, and type checking.<br />Experience with Pandas, NumPy, Jupyter, OpenTelemetry, Git/GitHub, GitHub Actions, and Docker.<br />Experience developing microservices and/or Lambda-based solutions.<br />Strong experience with PostgreSQL.<br />Experience working with AI/ML technologies, particularly ASR, TTS, LLMs, or related tooling, is highly desirable.<br />AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Hugging Face, PyTorch/TensorFlow, or Generative AI tooling would be advantageous.<br />Strong communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.<br />Comfortable taking ownership and working in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.<br />This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Python Engineer / Back End Developer to work on a cutting-edge product using modern microservices, cloud, and AI technologies within a fast-paced, collaborative team.
