Position: DeltaV Training Developer & Instructor

Location: Indianapolis, IN(Hybrid)

Hiring Mode: 9 Months Contract

Job Description:

Position Overview:

Develop and deliver a structured, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)-aligned DeltaV v16 Long-Term Support (LTS) training program for automation engineers and cross-functional stakeholders at a greenfield pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. Create site-specific learning content using the customer s actual configuration, equipment, recipes, and DeltaV Live graphics. Deliver hands-on training in a DeltaV Simulate environment and support a train-the-trainer handoff so the customer can sustain the program internally. This role requires onsite work as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Design role-qualifying technical curriculum for automation engineers and functional-literacy curriculum for Manufacturing Operations, Process Engineering, Process Technology and Engineering, Quality, and Health, Safety and Environment audiences.
  • Develop curriculum design documents, facilitator guides, participant guides, hands-on labs, knowledge checks, and role-based competency assessments.
  • Build site-specific training scenarios using DeltaV v16.LTS, DeltaV Live, DeltaV Batch, and the ISA-88 batch model.
  • Deliver instructor-led training and guided labs using DeltaV Simulate, with no training activity performed on the live production system.
  • Map learning objectives and competency outcomes to the customer s training matrix and qualification records.
  • Tailor technical content to learners with different levels of DeltaV knowledge while maintaining consistent terminology and GMP expectations.
  • Partner with customer stakeholders during discovery, design, build, pilot, full delivery, and closeout phases.
  • Provide train-the-trainer sessions and editable source materials for ongoing customer use.
  • Follow site safety, security, change-control, data-integrity, and documentation requirements.
  • Track project deliverables and progress in Smartsheet.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated hands-on DeltaV v16 or v15 configuration and engineering experience.
  • Practical experience with DeltaV Batch using the ISA-88 standard and DeltaV Live Graphics Studio.
  • Experience working in GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing.
  • Ability to develop customer-specific content from control-system configuration, recipes, equipment, and graphics.
  • Working knowledge of GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11, and ALCOA+ data-integrity principles.
  • Ability to deliver technical instruction to automation engineers and functional instruction to manufacturing, quality, engineering, and HSE audiences.
  • Ability to work onsite as required and comply with customer site, safety, and security requirements.
  • Strong written, facilitation, stakeholder-management, and technical-troubleshooting skills.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Emerson DeltaV v16.LTS or v15, including DeltaV Explorer, DeltaV Batch, Recipe Studio, DeltaV Live, Graphics Studio, DeltaV Diagnostics, and DeltaV Simulate.
  • DeltaV controllers, CHARMs and Electronic Marshalling, control networks, redundancy, PROFINET over Ethernet-APL, EtherNet/IP, and GSDML device configuration.
  • Control modules, function blocks, I/O assignment, PID, cascade and ratio strategies, sequential function charts, interlocks, and permissives.
  • Continuous Historian, Event Chronicle, batch historian, OPC UA, Open REST API, Edge Environment, and Enterprise View, as applicable.
  • Alarm management aligned with ISA-18.2; graphics design aligned with ISA-101; lifecycle and validation practices aligned with GAMP 5 and 21 CFR Part 11.
  • Smartsheet for project and deliverable tracking.
