Regardless of the position one holds, each team member brings their talent and desire to positively impact the environment and lives of others in a refreshing, vibrant, and inclusive culture.

As an Aircraft Development Engineer on the Advanced Systems team, you will drive the cross-functional development workflow for new aircraft concepts. You will coordinate multidisciplinary trades, maintain integrated development artifacts, identify and retire technical risks, and assemble engineering evidence to support timely program decisions. You will need to understand the aircraft at an architecture level to support the effective design and optimization of next-generation electric aircraft. This position will be based onsite at our South Burlington, VT office location, our Raleigh, NC office. Remote candidates may be considered for a hybrid role, with monthly visits to South Burlington, VT for in person work.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

  • Drive the integrated workflow for aircraft concept development and technical review
  • Coordinate aircraft-level trades across configuration, propulsion, systems, structures, manufacturing, operations, and test
  • Maintain trade packages, decision records, and technical-review materials
  • Track major assumptions, risks, interfaces, dependencies, and actions
  • Mature aircraft configurations and installation concepts
  • Identify cross-functional issues early and coordinate closure with responsible teams
  • Communicate progress, unresolved issues, trade outcomes, and recommended actions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems, or Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of aircraft, aerospace, or complex product-development experience
  • Experience integrating multiple engineering disciplines on a hardware product
  • Working knowledge of aircraft configuration, systems, structures, propulsion integration, manufacturing, or test
  • Experience preparing and presenting trade studies, technical reviews, or decision-support materials
  • Ability to structure ambiguous technical work into clear actions, decisions, and artifacts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a US Person to be considered for the role

Above and Beyond Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting a new aircraft, prototype, demonstrator, or complex aerospace product
  • Experience with aircraft configuration, propulsion installation, or multidisciplinary trades
  • Experience in preliminary or detailed design, build, integration, ground test, or flight test
  • Familiarity with requirements, interface management, verification planning, or configuration control
  • Experience with external suppliers, technical partners, or government-funded aerospace programs
  • Familiarity with electric aircraft, advanced propulsion, energy systems, or emerging architectures
  • Experience using CAD, 3DX, MBSE, analysis, or program-management tools for integrated development
