RESPONSIBILITIES
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Document Control Specialist (Mid-Level) in Austin, TX.
Summary
Our client is seeking a high-performing Document Control Specialist to support construction and infrastructure projects. This role serves as the cornerstone of document integrity, accessibility, and compliance across factory and infrastructure documentation systems. The individual will manage the full lifecycle of project documentation-from creation through archival-supporting Engineering Program Managers (EPMs) and construction teams while ensuring projects move forward without delays. This is a fast-paced, high-volume environment requiring strong ownership, adaptability, and urgency.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full document lifecycle (creation, QC, routing, archival)
- Process RFIs, submittals, drawings, and project documentation
- Upload and organize documentation within EDMS systems with proper metadata
- Perform quality control checks to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Track and expedite document workflows, including submittals and RFIs
- Maintain logs, reporting, distribution matrices, and traceability across projects
- Monitor document status and escalate aging items to avoid delays
- Support cross-functional teams to ensure documentation flow aligns with construction timelines
- Drive process improvements and documentation standardization
REQUIREMENTS
- 7-10 years of document control experience (5-7 years considered for strong candidates)
- Background in construction, manufacturing, industrial, or oil & gas environments preferred
- Proven experience managing high-volume document sets (10k+ records preferred)
- Proficiency with EDMS platforms (SharePoint, Aconex, OpenText, or similar)
- Strong skills in Excel and overall document management tools (Bluebeam/Adobe preferred)
- Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-change environments
Work Environment & Expectations
- High-volume workload (drawings, RFIs, submittals across multiple projects)
- 50-60 hour work weeks typical
- 100% onsite at Giga Texas (5 days/week)
- Minimal ramp-expected to independently manage work within ~2-3 weeks
- Must balance compliance with speed to avoid impacting construction or production

This is a high-demand, high-performance environment where success is driven by speed, ownership, and adaptability.
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
