BIM / Revit Specialist – Electrical Construction

Location: Wallingford, CT

The Opportunity

An established electrical construction organization is seeking a BIM / Revit Specialist to join its engineering team and support the design and delivery of complex electrical construction projects.

This position will focus on developing detailed electrical models and drawings using Autodesk Revit, with an emphasis on equipment, conduit, support systems, prefabrication, and field installation. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams and collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and other trades to ensure designs are practical, code-compliant, and aligned with project requirements.

This is a strong opportunity for an electrical construction professional with Revit experience who wants to deepen their BIM expertise while taking increasing ownership of project modeling and deliverables.

What You'll Be Doing

BIM & Revit Modeling

  • Take ownership of BIM/modeling activities and project deliverables.

  • Develop and maintain detailed electrical models using Autodesk Revit.

  • Model electrical equipment, conduit, supports, and related systems for prefabrication and installation.

  • Produce detailed fabrication and installation drawings from project models.

  • Review plans, schematics, and existing models to identify design requirements and potential issues.

  • Build proficiency with additional design and engineering software as needed.

Electrical Design & Code Compliance

  • Apply the National Electrical Code, applicable local building codes, and established industry practices throughout the design process.

  • Review electrical designs and models for code compliance and constructability.

  • Apply practical electrical construction knowledge when developing BIM models and installation documentation.

  • Assist project teams in resolving design questions and improving the constructability of electrical systems.

Project & Team Coordination

  • Work closely with project engineers and other members of the project team throughout the design and construction process.

  • Assist with contract document review, 3D coordination, modeling, and drawing production.

  • Coordinate and schedule supporting project personnel to meet established deliverables.

  • Participate in project meetings and communicate recommendations regarding electrical design and construction practices.

  • Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and other trades to address project requirements and design considerations.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in engineering reporting, accountability, and documentation processes.

  • Help improve modeling and engineering workflows to increase efficiency and project performance.

  • Contribute to best practices that support project quality, productivity, and profitability.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Approximately 3–10 years of experience in BIM, Revit, electrical construction, engineering, or a related field.

  • Hands-on experience with Autodesk Revit, ideally within an electrical construction environment.

  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code.

  • Practical understanding of electrical construction methods and installation.

  • Ability to interpret electrical plans, schematics, and construction documents.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic Autodesk products.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to take ownership of assigned work while contributing effectively as part of a project team.

  • Motivation to continue developing technical knowledge and capabilities.

Preferred

  • Experience creating electrical models for prefabrication and field installation.

  • Experience producing fabrication or installation drawings.

  • Experience coordinating BIM models with architects, engineers, contractors, and other trades.

  • Experience overseeing or coordinating the work of supporting project staff.

  • Familiarity with 3D modeling and construction coordination workflows.

Compensation & Benefits

The organization offers a competitive compensation package with a salary range of approximately $95,000–$130,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

Benefits include:

  • Medical and dental insurance

  • 401(k)

  • Paid holidays and vacation

  • Performance/merit-based bonus opportunities

  • Tuition reimbursement

  • Training, mentorship, and career development opportunities

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This role provides the opportunity to work at the intersection of electrical construction, BIM, prefabrication, and engineering. You'll have the chance to take ownership of project modeling efforts, collaborate with experienced construction and engineering professionals, and expand your capabilities across increasingly complex projects.

The position is particularly well suited for someone who wants to build toward greater independence and responsibility in electrical BIM and Revit while remaining closely connected to real-world construction and installation.
