Team and work: Supports Prime Therapeutics’ Pharmacy Oversight Review Tool (PORT), a relatively new application tied to pharmacy oversight and Medi-Cal.
•    Core need: A hands-on senior engineer who is strong in Java/Spring Boot and React and can deliver across the UI and backend.
•    React is the differentiator: There is upcoming new UI work. The candidate should confidently build features, troubleshoot issues, and help other developers, though they need not be a React specialist.
•    Backend expectations: They should independently develop and troubleshoot Java/Spring services and APIs without guidance on coding fundamentals.
•    Seniority: This is a senior individual contributor who can guide teammates informally, not a principal architect or people manager.
•    Cloud and streaming: Google Cloud Platform experience is preferred. Kafka or Pub/Sub experience is useful, but the team’s exact services are still being confirmed.
•    Other helpful tools: PostgreSQL/Flyway, GitHub Actions, HashiCorp/Terraform, and Spring Security/OAuth2. Don’t screen out a strong Java/React candidate for missing one of these.
•    Design, build, test, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain features across React and Java/Spring.
•    Take a leading hands-on role in new UI work, including components, API integration, and defect resolution.
•    Develop and integrate APIs and backend services using Spring Boot and related Spring components.
•    Work with Google Cloud Platform-hosted services, data, and event-driven integrations used by the team.
•    Collaborate with the product owner, product analysts, quality engineer, and developers to clarify requirements and deliver features.
•    Review code and provide practical technical guidance to other developers.
Required qualifications
•    Strong hands-on Java and Spring development experience, including Spring Boot and APIs.
•    Recent React experience sufficient to independently build features, troubleshoot issues, and guide teammates. The manager is seeking confidence in React, though the person need not be a React specialist.
•    Senior-level judgment and the ability to deliver with limited hand-holding on coding and technology fundamentals.
•    Cloud development experience, preferably with Google Cloud Platform.
•    Clear communication and effective collaboration with product, QA, and engineering partners.
Helpful experience
•    Spring Data, Spring Cloud Stream, Kafka, or Google Pub/Sub.
•    PostgreSQL and Flyway.
•    GitHub Actions and CI/CD workflows.
•    HashiCorp tooling such as Terraform; Spring Security and OAuth2 client or resource server patterns.
•    Healthcare, PBM, or Medi-Cal experience.
