H & O Electrical are a commercial and industrial electrical contractor based in Irlam. The majority of our work is across the North West, though our clients take us all over the UK when a project calls for it.

We're a close-knit team and it's a fun office to work in. Everyone knows each other and there's a good sense of humour about the place, but we work hard too and we all take pride in doing the job properly for our clients.

The role

We're growing our in-house design team and looking for a full-time Electrical Design Engineer to join us in the Irlam office. You'll be designing across a varied pipeline of commercial fit-outs, refurbishments and new installations. You'll be working alongside the estimating, project management and site teams who deliver them.

AutoCAD, Amtech and Relux/DIALux experience are essential.

What you'll be doing

• Designing LV power distribution, small power, lighting and associated electrical safety systems.
• Producing accurate layout drawings, schematics and technical details in AutoCAD.
• Completing electrical network calculations, cable sizing and technical assessments in Amtech.
• Developing internal and external lighting designs and simulations in Relux or DIALux.
• Making sure every design complies with BS 7671 and the relevant UK Building Regulations.
• Working closely with our project managers, engineers and site teams, and talking directly to clients and consultants as jobs progress.
• Site survey visits for both live and upcoming projects, accompanying the project management team.

What we're looking for

• Proven electrical design experience on commercial projects.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Amtech and Relux/DIALux.
• Detailed, up-to-date knowledge of BS 7671 wiring regulations.
• The ability to produce clear, accurate drawings, calculations and technical information that site teams can actually build from.
• A collaborative approach, you'll be in the same room as the people delivering your designs.
• Able to commute to our Irlam office.
