Job Description

Job Title: 2121 - SW Engineer
Project Duration: 36 Months
Location: Lexington, MA (Remote or Hybrid) 
Duration: Full-Time Contract
Job Description
The Group requires a software engineer to support the design, development, implementation, and testing of software for a series of large-scale communications system demonstrations. Work will be performed in a disciplined collaborative environment, employing modern programming practices.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Software architecture definition
  • System software design and implementation, primarily in C++. This will include protocol and state machine design alongside system designers to translate prototype simulations into real-time code
  • Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to design and prototype communications-based software
  • Integration, test design, and support from lab and field experiments
  • Aid in preparing technical documentation for software architectures and code, including technical specifications, reports, and technical presentations for multiple internal and external audiences
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor of Science degree with 5+ years of directly relevant experience is acceptable
Software Development & Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience with software/algorithm development
  • 5+ years of experience with object-oriented software design and development
  • 5+ years of experience with software design/development
  • 5+ years of experience with design patterns and data structures
  • 5+ years of experience with C++11 or later
  • 5+ years of experience with Standard Template Library (STL)
  • 5+ years of experience with Boost library
  • 5+ years of Java development experience
  • 5+ years of JavaScript development experience
  • 5+ years of experience with hardware abstraction layers
  • 5+ years of experience with hardware and software integration
  • 5+ years of experience with software modelling and the Unified Modelling Language (UML)
Linux, Systems & Distributed Systems
  • 5+ years of development experience on a Linux platform
  • 5+ years of experience with distributed systems and inter-process communication (UDP/TCP/ActiveMQ/etc.)
  • Experience with Linux development environment and/or commercial real-time operating systems
DevSecOps, Build & Deployment
  • 3+ years of experience supporting DevSecOps environments
  • 5+ years of experience with Maven or Gradle, Git/GitLab, Make/Autotools
  • 5+ years of experience with software deployment and knowledge of modern software deployment techniques
  • 5+ years of experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Source control experience (Git/SVN/ClearCase/etc.)
Communication & Collaboration
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills, especially applied to writing technical documents
  • Ability to work well independently as well as with a team
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
Clearance
  • An interim clearance is sufficient to start with.
Work Location
  • Remote or Hybrid
  • If Hybrid, the worker should expect to be onsite up to 2 days a week.
  • There may be some points in the project/work in which some additional onsite work may be required.
Interview Process
  • Initial phone screen/Zoom screen
  • Second-round interview will be in person for local candidates.
  • If there is a relocation candidate, a second-round Zoom interview will be acceptable, but local candidates should plan for onsite.
