Job Description

Associate, Principal Investments

Overview:

A leading energy-focused organization is seeking a Senior Analyst or Associate to join its principal investing team. The group deploys its own balance sheet capital across energy, power, infrastructure, natural resources, and energy transition opportunities through a variety of investment structures, including acquisitions, growth investments, joint ventures, and structured capital solutions. This role offers exposure to the full investment lifecycle and is ideal for a candidate looking to develop deep transaction experience within a lean, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain detailed financial, valuation, and scenario models to support investment underwriting and decision-making.
  • Conduct market, industry, asset, and counterparty due diligence, assessing commercial, operational, financial, and regulatory considerations.
  • Prepare investment committee materials, investment memoranda, presentations, and other transaction-related analyses.
  • Support transaction execution from evaluation through closing, including coordination of advisors and management of diligence processes.
  • Analyze potential investments across energy, infrastructure, natural resources, and real asset sectors.
  • Monitor portfolio investments through performance reporting, valuation updates, budget tracking, and financial analysis.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to evaluate opportunities and understand the commercial drivers supporting investments.
  • Screen new opportunities, maintain transaction pipelines, and support broader origination efforts.

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, infrastructure investing, corporate development, transaction advisory, or a related field.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, and accounting skills with the ability to build models from the ground up.
  • Experience supporting M&A, capital raising, strategic investments, or other transaction-oriented work.
  • Interest or experience within energy, power, infrastructure, natural resources, or other real asset sectors preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into concise investment recommendations.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a lean, fast-paced environment with significant responsibility.
