Job Description

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL DBA to manage, optimize, and support highly available PostgreSQL database environments. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with database administration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, security, and production support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and administer PostgreSQL databases in production and non-production environments.

  • Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and troubleshooting.

  • Manage backup, recovery, replication, and high availability strategies.

  • Monitor database health, capacity, performance, and availability.

  • Troubleshoot complex database and production issues and provide root-cause analysis.

  • Implement database security, access controls, roles, and auditing.

  • Support database migrations, upgrades, and cloud-based PostgreSQL environments.

  • Automate routine DBA tasks using Python, Bash, or SQL scripting.

  • Collaborate with application, DevOps, and infrastructure teams on database architecture and deployments.

Required Skills

  • 8 10+ years of PostgreSQL database administration experience.

  • Strong expertise in PostgreSQL architecture, SQL, PL/pgSQL, indexing, and query optimization.

  • Experience with Replication, Streaming Replication, HA, and failover.

  • Strong knowledge of backup/recovery tools such as pgBackRest, WAL, and PITR.

  • Experience with database monitoring and performance analysis.

  • Linux/Unix administration and shell scripting.

  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform database environments.

  • Strong troubleshooting and production support skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL or equivalent managed PostgreSQL services.

  • Experience with Kubernetes/containerized PostgreSQL environments.

  • Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, or other infrastructure-as-code tools.

  • Experience with database migration and modernization projects.

  • PostgreSQL certifications are a plus.
