  • Address concerns and resolve conflicts involving patients, families, visitors, staff, and external parties with integrity, fairness, active listening, cultural sensitivity, and professional communication.

  • Promote nursing staff development, professional growth, and recognition through coaching, mentoring, timely and specific performance feedback, participation in performance reviews, and encouragement of professional practice.

  • Apply human resources policies, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and progressive discipline procedures consistently, in coordination with appropriate leadership and Human Resources.

  • Conduct rounds on nursing units to identify actual or potential safety risks, initiate corrective actions, and make appropriate referrals.

  • Support quality assurance and performance improvement through objective outcome data, safety monitoring, evidence-based nursing standards appropriate to specific patient populations, and initiatives to improve patient care.

  • Participate in developing, revising, and implementing nursing service policies, clinical practices, and operational improvement initiatives.

  • Encourage shared governance, unit-based councils, collaborative decision-making, positive interdisciplinary relationships, staff empowerment, and a respectful, supportive work environment that recognizes contributions to excellent patient care.

  • Promote culturally and linguistically appropriate care, patient confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, ethical nursing practice, and adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Use electronic medical records, Microsoft Office applications, and other clinical and administrative technology to support patient care, communication, and operational efficiency.

  • Maintain clinical expertise and professional accountability through leadership meetings, committees, continuing education, community nursing activities, self-evaluation against professional standards, reflective practice, adaptability, and responsibility for decisions and outcomes.
