Thames Water is the UK's largest water and wastewater company, serving around 16 million customers across London and the Thames Valley. As a trusted delivery partner, Lanes Group plays a vital role in maintaining one of the UK's most critical infrastructure networks, delivering essential wastewater and drainage services that protect communities and the environment.
Our teams carry out everything from sewer maintenance and network cleansing to CCTV inspections and pollution response, ensuring customers receive a safe, reliable, and resilient service every day.
Purpose of the role:
Due to continued growth and development, we are now looking for customer focused people to join us in our Utility Division, working on our Thames Water contract service to deliver real and effective solutions to depot organisation:
Location: Camberley STW, Riverside Way, Surrey
Job Type: permanent, full-time
Hours: Monday - Friday 50 Hours per week
Salary: £38,585 per annum
Key Responsibilities:
Depot Standards and Housekeeping
- Oversee and maintain high depot standards, ensuring the depot remains tidy, organised, and
clean at all times taking responsibility for the physical appearance of the depot, ensuring that stock is neatly
stored and compliant with Health and Safety standards.
Stock and Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate records of stock, including receiving, storing, and distributing materials
and equipment ensuring stock movements are recorded accurately, including deliveries, returns, and
discrepancies.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
- Ensure depot operations comply with all relevant health and safety regulations, including the
proper storage and handling of materials and PPE. - Conduct regular safety checks on tools, equipment, and vehicles to ensure they meet safety
standards. - Escalate any health and safety concerns promptly to the appropriate channels to ensure a
safe working environment. - Conduct regular internal audits and prepare for external audits to ensure compliance with
company policies and external regulations. - Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them.
Logistics and Deliveries Management.
- Oversee the loading and unloading of stock, ensuring materials are handled safely and
efficiently. - Assist with vehicle movement within the depot when required/ Deliver Urgent equipment to site in response to pollution events/client requests and operational needs
Operational Efficiency and Continuous Improvement
- Implement changes to improve workflow, reduce downtime, and enhance service delivery.
- Lead initiatives to streamline depot operations and improve overall efficiency, ensuring that
best practices are followed.
Administrative and Reporting Duties
- Accountability for accurate and up-to-date records of stock levels, deliveries, PPE usage, and any
discrepancies. - Generate reports on stock movements, order fulfilment, depot performance, and any health
and safety compliance issues.
Key Requirements
Skills & Experience:
● A full UK drivers’ licence
Desirable:
● Health and Safety certifications (e.g. IOSH or First Aid) are an advantage but not essential
● Experience in the drainage, utilities, warehousing or retail industry will be beneficial
● Class 2 HGV licence is desirable to manoeuvre vehicles, but not essential
