Roles of a Production Engineer

Support the introduction of new products into manufacturing (NPI).
Produce and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), production documentation and engineering data.
Provide technical support to the production team throughout the manufacturing process.
Work closely with Production, Quality and Purchasing to ensure projects are delivered on time.
Investigate production issues and implement effective solutions.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, efficiency and productivity.
Complete Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and maintain accurate engineering records.
Ensure manufacturing information is accurate and available before production starts.
Support capacity planning and engineering workload management.
Mentor apprentices and support the development of junior engineers.
Ensure compliance with company procedures and health & safety requirements.

Requirements of a Production Engineer

Previous experience as a Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer or similar.
Background in electrical control panels, electrical assembly or industrial automation.
Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI).
Able to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
Experience producing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing documentation.
Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or similar.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work across multiple projects.
HNC, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering is desirable.
Project management experience would be advantageous.
