Job Description

Business, Marketing and Information Technology Education Teacher
Business education or Computer Science Teacher Certification. Experience in video production preferred. Inspire students to develop their storytelling abilities, technical proficiency, and critical thinking skills through the medium of film and digital media. You will manage the video production lab, oversee equipment inventory, and lead a curriculum that bridges the gap between artistic expression and industry-standard technical workflows.

Obtain CareerTech Certification - participation in BMITE Teacher Academy
Advise and maintain an active Business Professionals of America (BPA) or Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) chapter
Align curriculum with local technology center on occupational outcomes for students

Develop Engaging Lesson Plans: Create and deliver a comprehensive, standards-based curriculum covering pre-production (scriptwriting, storyboarding), production (cinematography, lighting, audio), and post-production (editing, color grading, visual effects).

Instruct students in the proper use of professional-grade cameras, audio equipment, lighting rigs, and studio management.

Software Proficiency: Teach industry-standard editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro).
Implement diverse assessment strategies, including project-based learning, portfolio reviews, critiques, and written exams.

Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the organization, maintenance, and checkout systems for all department cameras, lenses, microphones, and computer hardware.
Establish and enforce safety protocols for the studio and field shoots.

Resource Management: Manage budget requests for software licenses, equipment upgrades, and studio consumables.

Student Media: Advise the school’s media club, film festival committee, or video broadcast production team.

Showcasing Work: Facilitate opportunities for students to submit work to local or national film festivals, competitions, and internal school events.
