Cybersecurity Executive

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced cybersecurity leader to shape and lead an enterprise-wide security program within a complex, global organization. This executive will establish cybersecurity strategy, strengthen governance and risk management, oversee managed security service providers, and advance security across corporate and manufacturing environments.

The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with business judgment and executive presence. Success requires the ability to translate cyber risk into business priorities, build strong internal capabilities, and hold external partners accountable for measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

Cybersecurity Strategy and Transformation

  • Develop and execute a multiyear cybersecurity strategy aligned with business objectives and organizational risk tolerance.
  • Establish security roadmaps, investment priorities, and transformation initiatives.
  • Assess emerging threats, evolving risks, and opportunities to strengthen enterprise protection.
  • Advise the CIO and executive leadership team on cybersecurity priorities and decisions.
  • Continuously improve cybersecurity maturity, resilience, and incident readiness.

Governance and Risk Management

  • Lead enterprise cybersecurity governance, policies, standards, and control frameworks.
  • Oversee risk assessments, mitigation initiatives, and executive-level risk reporting.
  • Align the security program with recognized frameworks, including NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls, as well as applicable industry requirements.
  • Develop meaningful performance measures and executive dashboards to evaluate security effectiveness.
  • Present cybersecurity risks, business implications, and recommended actions to senior leadership.

Managed Security Services Oversight

  • Serve as the primary executive contact for managed security service providers and other outsourced security partners.
  • Define service expectations, ownership, escalation procedures, and performance requirements.
  • Evaluate provider performance through key performance indicators, service-level agreements, audits, and ongoing improvement reviews.
  • Ensure providers fulfill contractual obligations and support business priorities.
  • Independently assess and challenge provider recommendations, solutions, and delivery approaches.
  • Build and maintain the internal expertise needed to direct and govern external partners effectively.

Security Architecture and Technology Leadership

  • Set enterprise security architecture direction and establish technology standards.
  • Embed security-by-design principles across infrastructure, cloud platforms, applications, data, identity, and operational technology.
  • Lead strategy and oversight across:
    • Identity and access management
    • Cloud security
    • Data protection
    • Email security
    • Security operations
    • Vulnerability management
    • Network security
    • Operational technology security
    • Incident response and cyber resilience

Incident Preparedness and Response

  • Lead executive-level coordination during significant cybersecurity incidents.
  • Ensure incident response, disaster recovery, and cyber resilience plans remain current and are regularly tested.
  • Direct executive communications and briefings during security events.
  • Turn post-incident findings into actionable improvements.

Operational Technology Security

  • Collaborate with manufacturing and operations leaders to protect industrial systems and environments.
  • Establish OT security standards, governance practices, and architectural requirements.
  • Strengthen asset visibility, network segmentation, access controls, and resilience across manufacturing locations.
  • Integrate OT security priorities into the broader enterprise cybersecurity strategy.

Compliance and Audit Readiness

  • Support internal and external audits and related remediation activities.
  • Ensure security controls address applicable regulatory, customer, and contractual requirements.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Internal Audit, and operational leadership on cybersecurity risk management.
  • Maintain consistent, audit-ready documentation and processes throughout the security program.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 12 years of progressive cybersecurity experience, including increasing leadership responsibility.
  • At least five years leading enterprise cybersecurity programs within a complex, global organization.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing managed security service providers or large-scale IT managed service partners.
  • Proven ability to develop cybersecurity strategies, investment priorities, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations and operational technology environments.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud security, infrastructure protection, identity management, data protection, and cyber risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence executive stakeholders and lead organizational change.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Experience directing cybersecurity programs for a global manufacturing organization.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, and enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • In-depth knowledge of NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, Zero Trust architecture, and modern cyber defense frameworks.

Preferred Certifications

  • CISSP
  • CISM
  • CRISC
  • CGEIT
  • Relevant GIAC certifications
  • ISO 27001 Lead Implementer or Lead Auditor

Leadership Competencies

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Balance long-term strategic thinking with practical execution.
  • Communicate confidently with executive leadership and board-level audiences.
  • Explain technical risks in terms of business impact.
  • Build credibility and productive relationships across business and technology teams.
  • Hold service providers accountable for clear, measurable outcomes.
  • Develop high-performing teams and reinforce a culture of ownership.
  • Advance security transformation while respecting operational requirements.

Above all, this leader must bring the expertise, confidence, and business acumen to direct a high-performing managed security services model—not simply depend on it. The role requires someone who can challenge external partners, guide their execution, and build internal capabilities that extend beyond what an outsourced provider can deliver alone.

We value diverse perspectives and are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where individuals are respected for their experiences, backgrounds, and contributions.
