Principal Frontend Engineer

Hampton North is partnering with a Series A security startup that helps enterprise teams find attackers already inside their environment. It's detecting abnormal behavior for that specific organization. The company is well funded by top-tier VCs such as Decibel and In-Q-Tel.

The platform combines a per-customer behavioral system of record, continuously maintained detections, and autonomous AI agents that hunt from a hypothesis and build, test, and deploy new detections once they establish root cause.

Compensation: 190-230k base + Equity

Location: Full Remote (US)

As a Principal Frontend Engineer, you'll own the customer-facing product experience that security teams rely on every day. You'll lead frontend architecture and design systems, turning complex security data and agent-driven workflows into clear, intuitive interfaces, while working closely with product, threat hunters, detection engineers, and the data platform team.

What You'll Be Doing

• Owning the architecture of the customer-facing web application and leading major frontend initiatives end to end
\n
• Building and evolving the design system and component library that sets the standard for the product's UI
\n
• Designing intuitive interfaces for complex security data, including threat intelligence tailored to each customer's environment
\n
• Building a customer-facing query builder that lets users create composite detections
\n
• Creating clear UX for AI agent workflows, making autonomous hunts and detections easy to understand and act on
\n
• Partnering with backend and data teams on API design and data contracts that support a fast, responsive UI
\n
• Setting frontend engineering standards across performance, accessibility, testing, and AI tooling
\n
• Co-owning the technical roadmap and advocating for the investments that matter most
\n

What You'll Need

• 6+ experience
\n
• Experience working in the security domain
\n
• Startup experience
\n
• Deep expertise in TypeScript and a modern frontend framework (Angular, React, or similar)
\n
• Strong opinions on design systems, component architecture, and what makes a great UI
\n
• Experience building data-heavy, complex web applications at scale
\n
• Solid understanding of API design and how frontend and backend systems fit together
\n
• Working knowledge of a backend language such as Python, Go, Java, or Rust
\n
• Experience with AWS or GCP
\n
• Proven ability to turn ambiguous customer needs into polished product experiences
\n
