Location: Remote

Duration: Long-Term

 

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced SAP Basis Migration Consultant to lead the technical assessment, planning, execution, and stabilization of a heterogeneous SAP ERP migration from HP-UX with Oracle 11.2.0.3g to Red Hat Enterprise Linux with Oracle 19.31. The consultant will own the SAP technical migration workstream, including SAP supportability validation, target landscape design, system-copy execution, Oracle integration, cutover planning, and post-go-live stabilization. Work can be performed remotely, but the consultant must work Pacific Standard Time hours.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Assess the existing SAP ERP 6.0 EhP6 landscape, including SAP_BASIS, SAP_ABA, SAP_APPL, support-package levels, SAP kernel, Oracle 11.2.0.3 version, HP-UX release 11.31, interfaces, add-ons, custom developments, and system dependencies. The current environment is non-Unicode.
  • Confirm SAP supportability for the target combination of SAP ERP EhP6, RHEL 9, Oracle 19.31, SAP kernel, Oracle client, BR*Tools, Unicode conversion and relevant SAP Notes.
  • Identify whether prerequisite remediation is required, including SAP kernel upgrades, SAP_BASIS/support-package updates, Unicode conversion considerations, add-on upgrades, or an interim RHEL 8 target.
  • Recommend and document the preferred migration method, including SWPM heterogeneous system copy, R3load/Migration Monitor export-import, or SUM with Database Migration Option and system move where supported.
  • Develop migration estimates for effort, timeline, staffing, infrastructure capacity, technical risks, cutover duration, fallback requirements, and hypercare coverage.
  • Define the target technical architecture, including SAP application-server topology, Oracle 19c deployment, storage, network, backup/recovery, monitoring, security, high availability, and disaster recovery requirements.

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience migrating SAP systems from HP-UX, AIX, Solaris, or Windows to RHEL, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Oracle Linux, or cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with SAP SUM Database Migration Option, including DMO with system move and downtime optimization.
  • Experience with Oracle-to-Oracle SAP database migration and SAP system copy procedures at multi-terabyte scale.
  • Experience supporting SAP ECC 6.0 EhP6, EhP7, EhP8, SAP NetWeaver 7.x, or SAP S/4HANA technical migrations.
  • Experience with SAP Unicode conversion, EhP upgrades, SAP kernel upgrades, enhancement-pack upgrades, and SAP S/4HANA conversion planning.
  • Experience with SAP Solution Manager, Focused Run, SAP Cloud ALM, ChaRM, technical monitoring, and IT service-management tools.
  • Experience with enterprise backup and recovery products, storage replication, SAN/NAS architecture, and performance tuning for SAP and Oracle workloads.
