Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Database Security Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in database activity monitoring automation for cloud databases across AWS and Azure and a proven ability to design, implement, and operationalize secure, automated monitoring and auditing solutions at scale.

Responsibilities:

• Engineer and automate database activity monitoring solutions for AWS RDS, Azure-hosted databases, and on-prem implementations.


• Develop Python, shell, and PowerShell scripts to enable CI/CD pipelines, integrations, and configuration management.


• Implement and maintain native audit logging, encryption in transit and at rest, entitlement reviews, and password vault integrations.


• Integrate and support Guardium or similar database activity monitoring tools for policy enforcement and reporting.


• Design REST API integrations for security workflows and observability.


• Collaborate with security, database, and cloud platform teams to drive standards and remediate findings.


• Create documentation, runbooks, and presentations for stakeholders and leadership.


• Work within Agile/Scrum ceremonies using Jira for backlog, sprint, and delivery tracking.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 10+ years as a SQL Server engineer or database developer with hands-on security engineering experience.


• Proficiency in Python and shell scripting on Linux, with CI/CD practices.


• Expertise with AWS RDS, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server administration and security features.


• Strong knowledge of database security controls including native auditing, encryption in transit and at rest, entitlements, and password vaulting.


• Experience integrating REST APIs for automation and monitoring workflows.


• Hands-on Linux administration in production environments.


• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Guardium or comparable database activity monitoring platforms.


• Automation with Ansible for configuration management at scale.


• Familiarity with Azure database services and cross-cloud patterns.


• Practice in Agile/Scrum frameworks using Jira and Horizon.
