Job Description
The Site MES IT Coordinator supports Manufacturing Execution System (MES) implementation and post-go-live operations at the manufacturing site level. This role serves as the primary coordination point between site users, Global MES, IT, Infrastructure, ERP, offshore development/configuration teams, vendors, and implementation partners. The position requires strong functional and technical knowledge of MES platforms and manufacturing processes to coordinate project delivery, site readiness, governance, business process alignment, and ongoing support throughout the MES lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
MES Project Coordination & Governance
- Act as the primary site IT coordinator and governance contact for MES implementation and support activities.
- Partner with Operations, Quality, MSAT, Validation, Site IT, Global MES, Infrastructure, ERP, vendors, and implementation partners to ensure project alignment.
- Coordinate MES lifecycle activities, including requirements gathering, design, build, testing, training, go-live, hypercare, support handover, and steady-state operations.
- Capture and clarify business requirements, process gaps, user needs, site feedback, and local constraints to support business process reengineering and alignment with the core MES template.
- Track project actions, risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, ownership, and site readiness activities.
- Coordinate technical and functional discussions between site users, Global MES teams, and offshore development/configuration teams.
- Support site readiness activities, including infrastructure, user access, shopfloor devices, printers, scanners, terminals, interfaces, and connectivity.
- Coordinate testing activities, ensuring site participation, required inputs, and timely closure of action items.
- Support MES change requests, impact assessments, testing coordination, documentation updates, training coordination, and user adoption.
Application Support & Service Delivery
- Coordinate incident, problem, and application support activities across support teams.
- Assist the Project Manager with day-to-day project execution.
- Log, prioritize, track, and escalate MES issues with clear business impact and ownership.
- Ensure Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is completed within defined timelines and permanent fixes are implemented to prevent recurring issues.
- Coordinate L2/L3 support activities following MES implementation and support users with issue resolution and follow-up.
- Organize and lead technical teams during major incidents and manage critical customer escalations.
- Contribute to application and infrastructure releases, configuration changes, upgrades, monitoring, performance tuning, backup, rollback planning, and system maintenance.
- Ensure escalation procedures are followed and collaborate with internal teams, third-party vendors, and hosting providers to meet support objectives.
- Provide recommendations on emerging trends, issues, and strategies that improve service delivery and application support.

Documentation & Compliance
- Create and maintain MES documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, user guides, training materials, support guides, service catalogs, and knowledge bases.
- Coordinate compliance and CSV-related activities with Quality and Validation teams while maintaining focus on site readiness and MES coordination.
- Ensure documentation and support materials remain current when MES processes, user access, devices, interfaces, or support models change.
- Maintain records of key decisions, issue resolutions, knowledge transfer, support handover, and open actions.
Continuous Improvement
- Manage site-level MES governance by coordinating demand, change requests, priorities, open tickets, escalations, and improvement initiatives.
- Partner with Operations, Quality, MSAT, Validation, Global MES, and support teams to ensure MES effectively supports manufacturing operations.
- Identify recurring issues, process gaps, training needs, and opportunities for process improvements, automation, and permanent fixes.
- Develop strategies and innovative solutions that improve application support, project delivery, and operational efficiency.
- Prepare and publish performance reports and service metrics for stakeholders.
Performance Measures
- Adherence to engineering processes, standards, and applicable SLAs.
- Timely resolution of incidents, problems, and critical escalations.
- Completion of Root Cause Analysis within defined timelines.
- Reduction of recurring incidents through permanent fixes, automation, and process improvements.
- Timely publication of reports and stakeholder metrics.
- Productivity against project standards.
- Creation of reusable documentation and knowledge assets.
- Participation in knowledge transfer and completion of mandatory training.
- Availability and performance of supported applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience supporting MES implementation or site IT project coordination within manufacturing environments.
- Strong functional and technical understanding of MES platforms, manufacturing processes, production support, application support, incident/problem management, infrastructure, interfaces, user access, and shopfloor devices.
- Experience with release management, configuration management, operating systems, software platforms, integrated development environments (IDE), and Agile methodologies.
- Experience supporting enterprise customers and coordinating distributed teams across multiple time zones.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, presentation, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to prioritize work, coordinate multiple teams, manage critical customer escalations, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong commitment to quality, engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and learning new technologies and tools.
