Position Overview
We are looking for an Interior Designer or Interior Architect to join our El Segundo studio and help shape residential projects in Malibu and Hawai'i, with the opportunity to grow alongside the portfolio.
This is a hands-on design role spanning interior architecture, materials, FF&E, custom components, detailing, and product development. You will work side by side with senior designers, architects, and engineers to develop the home as a cohesive whole, with real ownership of your own work from the start.
We are looking for someone equally interested in how something looks, how it feels, how it works, and how it is made.
The Projects
Malibu: 16 beachfront residences. A collection of fully custom homes, each individually designed with bespoke interiors, custom components, and an exceptional level of attention to material, proportion, and detail.
Hawai'i: A new resort community. A large-scale collection of homes set within the landscape of Hawai'i, with distinctive interiors and components that can be produced at scale without feeling standardized.
Position Impact
From day one, you'll own real pieces of real homes, from material palettes and millwork to finish packages and custom components. You'll learn directly from senior designers, architects, and engineers, and see your ideas move from sketch to prototype to production to the finished home. As the portfolio grows, so does your scope.
Who you are:
You are a designer with 4+ years of experience and a portfolio that shows real involvement in real projects. We weigh the strength of the work more heavily than the exact number of years. You have strong design sensibility, growing strength in both concept and technical execution, and an appetite to develop further in both. You're drawn to high-end residential, hospitality, or resort work, and you'd rather work across different aesthetic languages than repeat a single signature style.
Key Responsibilities
Design Development
Contribute to interior concepts, material palettes, and distinct design languages.
Design and document kitchens, bathrooms, millwork, built-ins, lighting, fixtures, finishes, furniture, and FF&E.
Work closely with architects and engineers to integrate interiors with architecture, structure, MEP, lighting, and technology.
Technical Execution & Documentation
Translate concepts into precise drawings, specifications, details, and fabrication information.
Help develop repeatable interior systems and finish packages for Hawai'i and bespoke interiors for Malibu.
Maintain material and finish libraries, schedules, and specification documentation.
Product & Component Development
Support prototyping, testing, and refinement of custom components with our manufacturing teams.
Research and review materials, samples, shop drawings, mockups, and prototypes.
Collaboration & Delivery
Collaborate with design, engineering, sourcing, and manufacturing teams globally and with specialist US fabricators.
Follow ideas from first sketch through production, installation, and the finished home.
Skills & Experience
4+ years of relevant professional experience; the strength of the work matters more than the exact number of years
Strong design sensibility and a portfolio showing real involvement in real projects
Experience with high-end residential, hospitality, resort, or similarly design-focused projects
Growing strength in both concept and technical execution, and an appetite to develop further in both
A developing understanding of materials, proportion, colour, furniture, fixtures, and finishes
Exposure to custom millwork, furniture, fixtures, or architectural components
Interest in working across different aesthetic languages rather than a single signature style
AutoCAD or Rhino proficiency required; Revit experience encouraged
Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field
Nice to Have
Product development, manufacturing, modular, or prefabricated construction experience
International sourcing or direct fabricator/manufacturer experience
Luxury residential or hospitality experience
Mandarin language ability
Comfort working in both metric and imperial units
NCIDQ certification or architectural licensure
