Job Description

Role: Senior DevOps Engineer Knowledge Graph Platform

Location:

1 st Preference - Edina, MN (Hybrid 3 Days From Office)

2 nd Preference Chicago (Illinois) / Irving (Texas) (Hybrid 3 Days From Office)

Overview
We are looking for a DevOps / Platform Engineer with 3+ years of hands-on experience running knowledge graph or graph database platforms (RDF triple stores or property graphs). You will operate, automate and scale the enterprise knowledge graph platform behind our healthcare analytics, interoperability and AI initiatives. You will work with data engineering, architecture, clinical informatics and software teams.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Platform engineering: Install, configure, upgrade and maintain graph database environments across dev, test and prod. Containerize and deploy on AKS and Azure Container Apps using Helm and Kubernetes manifests.
  2. Automation: Build CI/CD pipelines and IaC (Terraform/Bicep). Script routine admin such as database creation, user and role setup, and ontology and SHACL shape deployment.
  3. Reliability and recovery: Own backup, restore, disaster recovery and business continuity. Define RPO/RTO targets, run recovery drills, and plan HA and failover.
  4. Performance and monitoring: Set up monitoring, ing and capacity planning (Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor). Tune SPARQL queries, reasoning, indexing and large graph workloads.
  5. Security: Manage IAM, RBAC, SSO, secrets and network security, with HIPAA-aligned controls.
  6. Integration: Connect the graph platform to SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Databricks, cloud storage and APIs. Support data virtualization and mappings.
  7. Semantic model support: Work with architects and data governance teams to deploy, version and validate healthcare ontologies (OWL/RDFS) with SHACL.
  8. Operations: Provide production support for mission-critical systems, including troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CS, IT, Engineering or Healthcare Informatics, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years with knowledge graph or graph database platforms.
  • 5+ years supporting enterprise databases, data platforms or DevOps environments.
  • Strong Linux and command-line skills, plus Bash or Python scripting.
  • Experience with mission-critical production systems.

Preferred qualifications

  • Databricks, Delta Lake and lakehouse architectures.
  • Azure data and analytics services.
  • Healthcare domain experience (payer, provider, quality, population health) and standards such as FHIR and HL7.
  • Knowledge graphs for AI and decision support.

Soft skills
Strong troubleshooting, clear communication, stakeholder collaboration, and ownership of outcomes.
