About the Opportunity
A market-leading UK financial services business is seeking a high-performing Deputy Chief Information Security Officer (Deputy CISO) to lead the operational execution of its cyber security roadmap.
Reporting directly to the CISO, you will act as second-in-command, driving delivery across complex technology domains while deputising across executive, risk, audit, and regulatory committees. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on turning strategic cyber objectives into structured, transparent, and high-impact delivery.
Key Accountabilities
- Executive Deputisation: Act as primary deputy for the CISO across CIO leadership, board-level risk committees, and regulatory engagements.
- Hands-On Delivery Leadership: Own the operational execution of the cyber roadmap; sequence initiatives, remove blockers, and drive delivery performance across complex environments.
- Cross-CIO Integration: Work across Engineering, Data, Architecture, Governance, and Operations to embed security directly into change delivery frameworks.
- Governance & Risk: Lead operational governance, track KPIs/KRIs, and manage remediation plans resulting from audits, assurance, and regulatory reviews.
- Incident Preparedness: Act as an operational leader during cyber incidents, overseeing response plans, playbooks, and post-incident remediation.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven Track Record: Experience delivering complex cyber security or technology programmes within regulated or high-risk environments (Financial Services/Insurance preferred).
- Hands-On Leadership: Strong execution focus-capable of diving into delivery details, managing dependencies, and driving momentum beyond strategic oversight.
- Framework Knowledge: Deep understanding of enterprise risk frameworks and recognized security standards (eg, NIST CSF, ISO 27001, UK NCSC).
- Stakeholder Management: Exceptional capability to influence, collaborate, and partner across broad CIO and technology teams without relying solely on formal authority.
- Executive Presence: Confident representing the CISO function in governance, board, and regulatory forums.
