Job Description

  • Employment Type: Full-Time
  • Workplace: Milford, Connecticut — In-Office, with occasional travel to other Connecticut offices and courts

We are seeking an experienced plaintiff personal injury attorney who can independently evaluate, manage, negotiate, and resolve cases while providing clients with clear and compassionate counsel. This opening supports the firm’s continued caseload growth and offers meaningful autonomy alongside close collaboration with attorneys and case managers.

Success in this role means building trusted client relationships, protecting every deadline, negotiating fair settlements, preparing confidently for trial, and delivering work that reflects the firm’s professional standards. This is an in-office position in Milford.

Responsibilities

  • Own plaintiff personal injury matters from initial evaluation through settlement, verdict, or other final resolution.
  • Counsel clients on their legal rights, obligations, case strategy, risks, and realistic potential outcomes.
  • Review medical records, accident reports, insurance information, damages documentation, and other case materials to develop well-supported legal strategies.
  • Protect clients’ claims by tracking and meeting statutes of limitations, notice requirements, court deadlines, and internal milestones.
  • Independently negotiate with insurers, defense counsel, and other parties to secure fair, timely, and well-supported settlements.
  • Prepare cases for litigation and trial, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, hearings, and courtroom advocacy.
  • Maintain consistent, professional communication so clients understand where their case stands and what happens next.
  • Collaborate closely with case managers, attorneys, and support staff to move matters forward efficiently and resolve obstacles early.
  • Maintain accurate, timely case records in Litify and follow the firm’s paperless operating procedures.
  • Represent the firm professionally in the Milford office, other Connecticut offices, courtrooms, and interactions with clients and the broader legal community.

Must-Have:

  • Admission to the Connecticut Bar in good standing, or current eligibility for Connecticut admission through UBE score transfer, with no disciplinary history.
  • Juris Doctor degree or equivalent legal credential required for bar admission.
  • Meaningful plaintiff personal injury experience, including independent responsibility for managing cases.
  • Demonstrated experience independently negotiating and settling personal injury claims.
  • Trial experience and the ability to prepare and advocate effectively in litigated matters.
  • Experience using legal case management software and working in a paperless legal environment.
  • Excellent client counseling, legal analysis, organization, written communication, oral advocacy, and deadline-management skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Prior experience using Litify.
  • Current familiarity with Connecticut courts, filing practices, insurers, and personal injury procedures.
  • Experience using legal technology to improve case management, client communication, or workflow consistency.
  • Experience working closely with case managers and incorporating coaching and feedback into daily practice.
