Job Description

High performance isn't a given. It’s built on standards.
Standards that have driven McLaren for over 60 years.
And if you’re ready for the challenge, that standard is yours to own.
Burning enthusiasm. Constant improvement. The thrill in the pursuit of better.
That’s how we build a legacy. And how you build a career here.
Because racing isn’t just something we do. It’s who we are.
We are racers.
Are you?

As a Composite CNC Machinist, you will set and operate multi-axis computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools to produce carbon and metallic race car components and tooling.

What You'll Do

  • Manufacture components accurately from supplied CAD data and engineering drawings.
  • Set and operate multiple multi-axis CNC machining centres to support output and effective shop utilisation.
  • Maintain component programme and tooling records, working with the Team Leader when support is needed.
  • Support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), workplace cleanliness, housekeeping and compliance with relevant health and safety requirements.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience as a craftsperson, including operating multi-axis machine tools and producing high-precision components.
  • Knowledge of Siemens 840D controls and experience machining materials including aluminium alloys, stainless steels and tool steels.
  • Understanding of CAM, ideally Open Mind hyperMILL, and knowledge of 3DEXPERIENCE design tools are desirable.
  • Previous experience in pattern work and tooling, preferably within motorsport, Formula 1 or aerospace, would be beneficial.

Personal Attributes
You will bring high attention to detail, clear and accurate communication, and a proactive, self-motivated approach. You will use your initiative, offer solutions and remain focused on excellence in quality, performance and output. As a supportive team player, you will be comfortable mentoring less-experienced colleagues, helping to grow talent and contributing to shared departmental goals.

Success in racing comes from bringing together talented people with different skills, perspectives and experiences. We're committed to building an inclusive environment where everyone feels supported and empowered to deliver their best work.

Every role has the potential to drive high performance. You'll be part of a team united by a shared ambition to push boundaries and embody our racing mindset. We invest in our people through opportunities to develop and grow, creating an environment where individuals and teams can thrive.
Alongside a range of wellbeing initiatives and development opportunities, we're committed to helping you build a rewarding career and make your mark at McLaren Racing.
