Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Ruby on Rails Developer to join our engineering team in California. The ideal candidate will have strong experience building scalable web applications using Ruby on Rails, developing RESTful APIs, working with relational databases, and collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable web applications using Ruby on Rails.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Build responsive and user-friendly application features in collaboration with frontend developers and UI/UX teams.
• Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and data models.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested Ruby/Rails code.
• Implement automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve application performance and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to other developers.
• Collaborate with product managers, QA engineers, DevOps engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, and technical discussions.
• Integrate third-party APIs and external services as required.
• Follow secure coding practices and industry-standard development methodologies.
• Contribute to architecture and technical design decisions.
• Maintain technical documentation and development standards.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
• Strong understanding of Rails MVC architecture.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and web services.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar relational databases.
• Proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend concepts.
• Experience with Git and source-control workflows.
• Experience writing automated tests using RSpec, Minitest, or similar frameworks.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
• Experience debugging, troubleshooting, and optimizing production applications.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with React, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Redis, Sidekiq, or other background-job frameworks.
• Knowledge of microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience with Kubernetes or containerized deployments.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools.
