They are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Technical Writer to support a key government agency by developing and refining essential aviation documentation. This role offers the chance to engage with complex technical information and contribute to the safety and efficiency of the national airspace.

The Role

  • Research, develop, and produce high-quality technical documentation, guidance materials, and reports related to national airspace systems, policies, and operational concepts.
  • Translate complex technical, operational, and procedural information into clear, accurate, and accessible content for varied audiences, including engineers and policy leaders.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and program staff to gather and verify technical information.
  • Draft, revise, and edit manuals, specifications, reports, and presentation materials, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
  • Apply expertise in aviation terminology, national airspace operations, and flight procedures to ensure technical accuracy and regulatory alignment.
  • Manage multiple documentation projects concurrently, maintaining attention to detail and adherence to schedule.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field, and 5+ years of experience, OR High school diploma and 10+ years of relevant experience in technical writing or editing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience producing or editing aviation regulatory documentation or related technical publications in aviation or aerospace.
  • Demonstrated experience developing content for FAA, DoD, or other federal aviation programs.
  • Proven ability to interpret and synthesize complex technical data and operational procedures into clear, concise, and accurate documentation.
  • Strong command of grammar, style, and technical writing conventions, with familiarity with FAA and government style guides.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and other relevant documentation tools.
