Operating out of a state-of-the-art facility in Santa Rosa, California, this pivotal, on-site role focuses on modernizing complex assembly operations through high-impact automation. As the principal authority in robotic integration, you will direct the transition from manual workflows to intelligent, automated ecosystems. What You’ll Do

• Evaluate production workflows to determine optimal candidates for automated intervention, constructing robust business arguments and implementation blueprints for each initiative.

• Architect, code, integrate, and operationalize collaborative robotic cells dedicated to high-precision handling, assembly, quality inspection, and device testing.

• Orchestrate the deployment of autonomous material delivery fleets, establishing optimized navigation pathways, traffic coordination, and seamless station transfers.

• Spearhead end-to-end project lifecycles, encompassing concept formulation, digital simulation, hardware assembly, factory acceptance evaluations, site testing, and final operational handoff.

• Connect advanced sensor suites, computer vision systems, custom end-effectors, and robotic arms directly with existing assembly machinery.

• Serve as the core technical expert by defining engineering standards, conducting rigorous design reviews, and upskilling technical staff on modern robotics platforms.

• Vet third-party hardware vendors, execute proof-of-concept pilot programs, and scale proven technologies across the production environment.

• Champion operational safety by partnering with environmental health teams to perform detailed risk analyses and ensure all active deployments meet strict safety standards.

• Author comprehensive technical guides, standard operating procedures, and training modules to enable seamless ongoing system maintenance by shop-floor teams.

What You Bring

• Bachelor Degree, Master Degree, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent technical research background.

• Industrial Automation and Robotics Integration experience (3+ years) executing physical deployments within active production or assembly facilities.

• Software Engineering combined with Mechanical Engineering capabilities to troubleshoot cross-disciplinary system challenges.

• Collaborative Robots programming expertise (e.g., Universal Robots or equivalent platforms) including hands-on integration of Grippers, End-Effectors, and Vision Systems.

• Autonomous Mobile Robots deployment experience targeting material transport, route configuration, and facility-wide fleet integration.

• Offline Programming and Robot Simulation proficiency used to analyze reachability, optimize cycle times, and validate cell layouts prior to physical installation.

• Project Management and Technical Leadership abilities with a proven history of guiding junior staff while directly executing hands-on technical work.

• ROS, ROS 2, RobotStudio, or RoboDK experience utilizing digital-twin or robotic middleware environments (Preferred).

• Machine Vision (2D/3D), Force Torque Control, and Pick And Place Applications familiarity (Preferred).

• AMR Fleet Management knowledge involving integration with Manufacturing Execution Systems or Warehouse Management Systems (Preferred).

• Electronics Manufacturing or Precision High-Mix Low-Volume Manufacturing operational experience (Preferred).

• CAD Software skills using SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD for tooling layout and cell spatial design (Preferred).

• Vendor Certifications across leading industrial or collaborative robot frameworks (Preferred).

• Machine Safety Standards knowledge including compliance frameworks such as ISO 10218, ISO/TS 15066, ISO 12100, and ISO 13849 (Preferred).
