Sr. Vehicle Security Lead - Fulltime Direct Hire

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Vehicle Security Lead with 5+ years of cybersecurity experience, including substantial automotive/vehicle cybersecurity experience, to join our dynamic Vehicle Security team. This position is ideal for a candidate with hands-on vehicle security testing expertise and demonstrated experience leading technical engineers or projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading vehicle security testing services, developing repeatable testing processes and frameworks, mentoring and developing engineers, ensuring technical quality, and partnering with customers to advance automotive cybersecurity capabilities. 

Essential Functions

·        Lead automotive testing engineers through work allocation, technical direction, coaching, development, and succession planning.

·        Build and grow the vehicle security testing services function through recruiting, training, and team development.

·        Lead In-Car and Out-Car security testing across ECUs, head units, infotainment, diagnostics, networks, wireless, and connected-vehicle interfaces.

·        Oversee security requirement verification and validation, ensuring scope, evidence, findings, and deliverables meet agreed expectations.

·        Develop and maintain repeatable vehicle security test cases, frameworks, suites, procedures, and automation.

·        Establish testing processes, tooling, documentation, metrics, quality controls, and continuous-improvement practices.

·        Apply penetration testing, root-cause analysis, and structured problem-solving to evaluate security findings and risks.

·        Serve as a senior technical contact for customers regarding testing scope, planning, findings, and technical recommendations.

·        Partner with Sales and Account Management on technical scoping, proposals, customer presentations, and service growth.

·        Maintain technical relationships with customers across regions to align testing services, methodologies, requirements, and delivery.

·        Support regional expansion and development of vehicle security lab capabilities, including reusable testing capabilities, configurations, resources, and test cases.

·        Advance testing capabilities through automation, AI-assisted testing, frameworks, and engineering efficiencies while maintaining appropriate quality controls.

·        Support manufacturing and supply-chain security testing for products, components, and suppliers.

·        Define scalable manufacturing and supply-chain testing approaches, including assets, requirements, evidence, and repeatable assessments.

·        Monitor automotive cybersecurity standards and regulations and translate changes into testing methods and service capabilities.

·        Support vehicle security practice strategy, service roadmap, capability investment, customer pipeline, and operating model.

Minimum Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.

·        5+ years of cybersecurity experience, including substantial automotive/vehicle cybersecurity or related security requirement verification and validation experience.

·        2+ years of experience leading technical engineers or projects, including demonstrated talent-development experience.

·        Hands-on vehicle security testing experience across areas such as ECUs, infotainment, diagnostics, networks, wireless, telematics, cloud, or mobile interfaces.

·        Experience developing security test cases, frameworks, test suites, automation, or repeatable security requirement verification and validation processes.

·        Demonstrated ability to lead technical engineering teams through coaching, mentoring, talent development, and establishment of effective processes and standards.

·        Strong practical knowledge of automotive cybersecurity, vehicle architectures and attack surfaces, security testing, and applicable industry practices.

·        Strong technical judgment, root-cause analysis, and structured problem-solving skills.

·        Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively with customers, suppliers, technical teams, and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

·        Experience with automotive cybersecurity standards such as ISO/SAE 21434 and UN R155.

·        Experience within an automotive OEM, Tier 1 supplier, manufacturing, or product-security environment.

·        Customer-facing experience in consulting, service development, proposals, or technical business development.

·        CISSP, CISM, OSCP, GIAC, or another relevant automotive cybersecurity certification.

·        Experience with manufacturing security, supply-chain security, product/component security, or supplier assurance.
