Field Application Engineer - Microcontrollers
Location: San Jose, California (Onsite)
Role Overview
This position supports customers designing next-generation IoT, Industrial, and Healthcare devices by serving as a technical advisor and embedded software expert. The role combines embedded firmware development, proof-of-concept creation, hardware and software integration, customer support, and pre-sales technical leadership. Candidates will develop demonstrations and validate solutions rather than focusing on production software development.
Key Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software and proof-of-concept solutions using C/C++.
• Support customer bring-up, software porting, debugging, and integration activities.
• Perform schematic and PCB design reviews.
• Troubleshoot system-level hardware and software issues and drive resolution.
• Present technical solutions to customers and internal teams.
• Deliver technical training to support customer deployments.
• Partner with engineering, product, sales, and marketing teams to drive customer design wins.
• Understand complete embedded systems and application-level architectures.
• Provide feedback to engineering and product development teams to influence future product offerings.

Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or an equivalent field.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in development engineering or applications support of microcontroller-based embedded systems, including building software solutions from scratch.
Technical Skills:

• Embedded C/C++ development.
• Strong understanding of embedded system architecture.
• Knowledge of SoC hardware interfaces (e.g., Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, USB, SDIO, LPDDR, MIPI).
• Hardware and software debugging, troubleshooting, and ability to review schematics.
• Customer-facing communication and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of ARM Cortex processors.
• Experience with AI model deployment.
• Experience in IoT, Industrial, or Healthcare product development.
• Familiarity with secure boot and device security.
• Experience using Real-Time OS systems such as FreeRTOS and Zephyr.
• Knowledge of graphics and video subsystems.
• Previous experience as a Field Application Engineer.
