Job Description

Job Title: Process Control Engineer
Location: Monticello, AR (Onsite)


ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client, is looking for a Process Control Engineer for a manufacturing facility. The engineer will be the site expert on automation platforms, working with teams across the plant to set up and maintain automation in the manufacturing processes. The role will also assist, consult on, and occasionally lead site projects, with a strong focus on safety and clear communication.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, develop, and support process and process control best practices, including working with plant leadership on mid and long term process control network strategies
- Understand and share industry best practices, equipment options, and proven strategies for manufacturing control systems
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement, variability reduction, and cost reduction
- Provide project and technical leadership (including training) for process control technology applications and PLC Technicians
- Serve as a key resource on projects to install and apply new process control technology, documentation, and training
- Evaluate and lead reviews of new technologies for use in manufacturing operations
- Build relationships with internal process control resources across the organization
- Develop productive relationships with external suppliers of process and control technology
- Partner with manufacturing and business leaders to align the project portfolio with operational goals
- Mentor and develop other process control engineers and technicians
MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, OR an Associate technical degree with 5 to 7 years of experience, OR 10+ years of experience in lieu of a degree
- Minimum 3 years of experience applying and supporting process control solutions in manufacturing
- Proven success developing and applying process control solutions for process/product improvement and cost reduction
- Advanced knowledge of PLC and HMI systems, with hands-on programming and configuration of complex automation strategies
- Ability to lead cross-functional projects with plant and corporate engineering teams
- Comfortable working with all levels: managers, engineers, operators, quality techs, supervisors, maintenance techs, and IT
- Strong process knowledge and first principles understanding of dynamic process behavior
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Able to manage multiple projects at the same time
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in wood products manufacturing or similar process/discrete manufacturing environments
- Strong data analysis skills and ability to diagnose complex process issues
- Controller design and loop tuning experience
- Advanced control experience such as Model Predictive Control (MPC) for multi-variable processes
- Process historian and analysis tools such as Aspen IP/21 Process Explorer and GE Proficy Plant Applications
- Control tuning software such as Expertune, ProTuner, or Entech
- Programming in Visual Basic, C, or Java, and databases such as Microsoft SQL Server
- LEAN Manufacturing experience
- Familiarity with Windows OS, domains, and Ethernet networks
- Allen-Bradley/Rockwell and Wonderware experience
