Cyber Security Engineer
Location: London, Manchester or Birmingham
Salary: Up to £67,000 plus benefits
A leading global technology consultancy is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to join its growing Engineering practice. You'll work on complex client projects, designing and implementing security solutions across cloud, on-premises and hybrid environments.
This is an opportunity for a technically minded engineer who enjoys solving problems, automating security processes and collaborating with wider engineering teams.
The role
  • Design, implement and maintain security tools to protect infrastructure, applications and data.
  • Embed security best practices alongside engineering and security teams.
  • Automate security processes, including SIEM log ingestion and routing.
  • Manage firewalls and network security across hybrid environments.
  • Conduct infrastructure security assessments using tools and frameworks such as CIS benchmarks.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, standards and procedures.
About you
You'll bring practical security engineering experience, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with technical colleagues and stakeholders.
Experience in some of the following would be beneficial:
  • SIEM and log management tools, including Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, Cribl or ELK.
  • Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • Scripting with Python, Bash or PowerShell.
  • Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation or Bicep.
  • Networking, CI/CD pipelines, virtualisation and Linux or WSL.
  • IDS/IPS, vulnerability management and endpoint security.
  • SOC environments or AI hardening techniques.
You do not need experience in every area to be considered.
Salary and benefits
  • Salary up to £67,000, dependent on experience.
  • Private medical insurance.
  • Up to 30 days' annual leave.
  • Three days of paid leave each year for charitable work.
  • Opportunities for training and professional development.
The role may include client-dependent on-call support for high-priority incidents, with additional compensation. Flexibility and mobility are required to support client delivery.
Security clearance requirements
Due to a specific client requirement, applicants must hold a British passport and have no dual nationality at the point of application.
Any offer is subject to satisfactory BPSS checks and the granting of security clearance. This typically requires five years of continuous UK address history, usually with no periods of 30 consecutive days or more spent outside the UK.
