Job Description

Do you have a genuine interest in working for an organisation tackling online harms - from violent extremism and gender-based violence to disinformation? Do you have experience working on online harms or running online safeguarding campaigns, and want to develop further?

Moonshot is recruiting an Analyst to join our Online Violence Prevention (OVP) team and to help deliver new prevention programmes. Our prevention programmes connect people who have encountered harmful or violent content online, and those worried about them, to safe, confidential support. You will contribute to the set-up and design of digital campaigns across multiple platforms. You will also help track campaign performance to identify lessons for future programme design and help build the evidence base around what works to prevent violence online. Alongside this, you will support day-to-day project coordination, including maintaining project documentation, tracking tasks and deadlines, and budget management.

Moonshot’s OVP team delivers an evidence-based model that connects people to resources and critical services early and efficiently, meeting them online where harmful content is encountered. Our OVP model offers a safety net to anyone affected by exposure to violent content online, without judgement.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Project delivery: Contributing to OVP project work as part of a team.
  • Campaign audience identification: Sourcing, interpreting and analysing quantitative and qualitative data, including social media metrics, and data gathered by our in-house specialist software, under manager supervision, to support the identification of target audiences and contribute to behavioural insights.
  • Campaign design and build: Supporting the design and build of digital campaign content and tactics that engage identified target audiences, often in multiple languages.
  • Campaign delivery and optimisation: Delivering digital campaigns, monitoring performance and contributing to the optimisation of campaign tactics, with guidance from more senior colleagues.
  • Research and reporting: Supporting the implementation of research methodologies and contributing to the drafting of reports and deliverables.
  • Monitoring and evaluation: Monitoring and evaluation of project activity, collecting and analysing performance data to help assess impact.
  • Capacity building: Supporting capacity-building activities for partners and practitioners, such as preparing materials and assisting with training delivery.
  • Ethics and safeguarding: Applying Moonshot’s ethical and safeguarding frameworks in all project work, and raising any concerns promptly with your manager.
  • Client communication: Supporting client communication and, with support, presenting project information to external stakeholders, following Moonshot’s communications principles.
  • Project coordination: Supporting day-to-day project coordination, including scheduling, tracking tasks and deadlines, and maintaining project documentation.
  • Budget monitoring: Supporting project budget tracking in consultation with project managers and the finance team, for example tracking expenditure and reviewing supplier invoices.
  • Contracts and suppliers: Supporting the drafting, review and issuance of contracts for consultants, suppliers and project partners.
  • Professional development: Developing subject matter expertise in online harms and technical skills through training, mentorship and independent research, and supporting innovative approaches to project work.

Essential:

  • Relevant professional, academic or research experience in, or a strong interest in, online harms.
  • Interest in, and some experience of, digital campaigns and social media.
  • Experience sourcing, interpreting and analysing quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience drafting reports and deliverables to a high standard.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, take direction and manage your own workload effectively, including under pressure.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with experience of, or interest in, project coordination.
  • Inquisitiveness and adaptability, particularly in relation to new technology and the use of social media for research.
  • Ability to work with sensitive and potentially distressing content.
  • Awareness of the ethical considerations in online harms work, and willingness to apply Moonshot’s ethical and safeguarding frameworks.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to deliver programme activities.
  • We require and will check candidates' eligibility to work in the UK and pass any relevant security clearance procedures per the needs of clients.

Desirable:

  • Fluency in a language other than English, preferably Arabic or German.
  • Experience or interest in violence prevention, public safety or a related field.
  • Experience of designing and delivering digital campaigns within the online safety, or related, sector.
  • Experience of quantitative methods for social science, such as statistical analysis, data visualisation or behaviour change analysis.
  • Experience of, or interest in, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Experience of budget tracking or financial monitoring.
  • 30 days' paid annual leave, excluding bank holidays.
  • Flexible public holiday policy with the option to work bank holidays in exchange for a day off at another time.
  • Private healthcare package with access to specialist mental health cover, including coverage for partners and children.
  • Employee Assistance Programme providing access to mental health support.
  • Generous maternity and paternity leave: 26 weeks paid maternity leave, 8 weeks paid paternity leave.
  • All permanent employees are granted share options upon employment.

Salary:  £30,784 - £37,000 (depending on skills and experience).
